I actually hope they don't re-work any more characters based on what they did with the Valk and Orochi re-works. These characters used to be difficult to use and rewarding when mastered. Now its just who can slap light attack faster. There really is no reward for trying to do any special moves. I use to love being Valk, her move set was slow but when used effectively was very satisfying. mixing in shoulder pin deflects and waiting for counters. Orochi use to be a great counter attacker, making his move set unique and for those patient enough to use him correctly, had a great looking fighting style that was rewarding. It was like using an old patient samurai, waiting for his opening. I get that you need openers now in the game, but perhaps we can get rid of the "light spam to win" mentality. (Like how does a huge hybrid viking have faster light attacks than the viking assassin.) Possible solution to this problem is to make it only a 2 hit light attack combo, not 3. But my biggest concern is that the next re-work could really damage the rewarding satisfaction of a character. Adding a moveset that only requires the twitching finger of light attacks. For players like myself, and I assume many others, for honor has appeal because of its challenging gameplay. I don't want to see it ruined by making characters so simple, the game turns into a button mashing, light spam shell of its former glory.
The orochi rework was especially bad. His light attack spam now means that literally ANYONE can pick him and win most of the time. He takes absolutely no skill anymore. I used to love using him as a counter attack fighter. Same with Valk. Counter then into slam.
I DO like the Valks new fluidity. I felt like she was pausing too much in between moves and combos before. But I HATE how her light spam is out of control now. If im not playing a heavy dodge hero, its basically gg. They wont listen to this though. Gamers are lazy, and lack ambition for the most part. So they tend complain about change, spending money, and difficulty. The people who recognize the changes to light spam as bad, we will be the minority due to the overall laziness and troll mentality of this games population. It will be a discussion EVERYONE is having in discord, but no one from Ubi will listen to most likely. All it did was make awesome Orochi and Valk players have an easier time, and new players easily can get to where the old "expert" players used to be with little to no effort.
In all honesty, I am not enjoying this game nearly as much as I used to and want to. The changes made since January have been aimed at more of an arcade style of play. Not skill based. I will probably move on for the most part when some of the other titles release over the winter and early spring if they keep this up.
Oh my, when will the players start using brain. Guys, as i said before - Valk spam works on low-rep only and used by cancer or newbie players. A lot of her lights are parried, deflected and easy to dodge by anyone who knows what she doing.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
And about "only 2 hit light" - Why? Just say me why do you suggest nerf her light combo? Isn't she nerfed enough? Maybe she should lose her spear at all? Start thinking before suggesting something.
Isn't she nerfed enough?
Im guessing youre a valk main? I used to be too. But she is way too easy to use now. I'm complaining from the stand point that it isn't challenging to win with her now. Any time you get in trouble while scrapping you can just throw the lights. And her mix ups are all anticipation based attacks, they aren't reachable. For example: on her blindingly fast and spammable light attack combo, the last light attack in the chain can either be
1. a light attack
2. a heavy attack
3. a heavy feint into shield bash resulting in a guaranteed light
4. a leg sweep (that requires you dodge before it's thrown to avoid it) that follows up with a guaranteed heavy
5. a GB (that if you dodge the leg sweep get hit with)
Don't forget you can just vortex now with the heavy into shield bash.
Bro if you think valk is nerfed right now and you cant win with her, you need to work on your hand-eye coordination or practice your reaction skills, cuz its easy to dominate with her. And again I'm complaining for the sole reason that i just want to be her and have a challenging fight. (BTW I'm 132 overall in for honor, so I don't think im fighting scrubs)
Thereby you accept my words about spam lights by newbies and cancers, it's first that players see when trying to play by Valk.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
I'm sorry, what? You want hardcore hero with broken tools like it was before and how it is now but little bit less? Ok, let's see what will be if it's happens:Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
1) All new heroes have good mixups, all characters are played by developers feel good in 1x1 and 4x4 (for example Centurion, Highlander, Kensei, Orochi and so on). Didn't you see that they never played by Valk on their official streams with tournaments? Didn't you see that most of players pick only Kensei like viable heroes?
2) For example: You top Valk and you will fight against top hmm... let it be Highlander, what will be the result in the end of battle? I think he just destroy you because he technically better reworked, he has enough damage to do it. But what can you? Faints? Dodges? Ridiculous lights which you think are too fast and OP? But Highlander has hyperarmor and he wanted to spit on it, he just gives you heavy unblockable when your technically broken hero will not be ready and that's GG. You want all of this? Then OK. But i don't, and i think that other Valk mains too.
Hah, yep and get parried, blocked and deflected by any little bit experienced player.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
1) That's newbie and cancer caseOriginally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
2) Slightly better but will be parried in most cases
3) This is better way but still predictable
4) It's half-broken after one of updates you know? As i said in other topics sweep easy reactable and predictable by experienced player. It's must be 500 ms as it was wrote on patch notes, but devs thought that Valk must be only slightly buffed in that way and supposedly joked that this is a typo about her 500 ms sweep. But i think in their first variant of her rework she had to have 500 ms.
Sweep interrupted getting on allies and you can't to do chain-heavy after it. Does it good? I think yes, but only for non-Valk players. But it's very annoying when you fight in 4x4 battles and make a lot troubles for you allies and get sh*t instead of well done game mechanics.
5) A very situational example, many players know this trick.
Yep, say it for (for example) experienced Kensei with his cancer dodges. Do not forget that your shield disappears when you make Shield Bash because devs decided that it's too OP to make it and be protected from damage in front of you.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
Bro, yes i think that she half-nerfed at the moment. And no, i can win with her but it's like fighting on a damaged plane.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
Agree with that, i want to play with some hardcore but then it must touch all the heroes and not for Valk or it will not be fair.Originally Posted by caprisunstraw Go to original post
