Apparently there may be a thread on here explaining how to back up your save on Xbox.. PS4 is pretty simple. I think with Xbox you copy you GM save (Revenge slot 1) to a USB stick. Do that every hour or after big missions. Then if you need to, restore from the usb overwriting the original save on the system. There may be more to it, but as I say I’m on PS4 so can’t help further.

In order to back up a save you need to play offline. Once your happy with your progress in offline mode you need to go back online to save your progression. I highly recommend doing this frequently, after every mission & tiering up.
1. Play offline: system, settings, network, network settings, go offline.
2. If you die while playing offline you can simply force close the application/ game.
3. Xbox button, scroll down to game, menu button, scroll down to quit, A button.
4. The game should still be highlighted in your dashboard press start button, scroll down to “manage game & add-ons”, A button.
5. Scroll down to “saved data”. Here it will show you “Internal 2”, scroll across & select “delete all” or if this doesn’t work highlight each save individually & delete both of the two save files, A button. You will be prompted “delete ****** saved data for Tom Clancy’s GRW” scroll left, delete from console, A button. Do this for both files.
6. Ensure both these files have been deleted from your hard drive “before” going back online.
7. Go back online, Xbox button, system, settings, network settings, “go online”.
8. Launch the game, if you’ve followed the steps correctly the game will synchronise & you will recover your last online save.
Remember! This is only to recover your character from your last online save!

When you decide your happy with your progress & you just want to go back online to update & override the existing online save file with Ubisoft. You need to be aware of a glitch!
Once the game has loaded & you’re back online you’ll receive two pop up messages in game while online.
The first message is the Ubisoft. “You are now online etc etc”. The second pop up message from Ubisoft follows 2-4 seconds later.
“You are now back online etc”!
If you don’t get the second pop up message, “you are now back online” which can take up to four seconds to pop after the first message. You will in fact not be online! You need this second message to pop because if it doesn’t the live progression save your attempting will not work even though you’ve the first message saying you’re connected to the Ubisoft servers.
The game will not be live updating your progress & you’ll lose that progress should you exit the game so when you log back in. The game will be from whatever save you had prior to you attempting your recent online live save.
* This is a rare occurrence, I believe it happened maybe four times near the later stages on reaching tier 1 on ghost mode but something you need to be aware of.
How do you get the second message to pop?
1. Disconnect from the internet as described earlier then reconnect again as previously described until that second pop up appears!
