    Skirmish Quitters !

It's getting harder to get a game of LS going lately, so I've been playing skirmish a lot more. Getting fed up of being on a team , up against a decent team, getting a bit of a kicking, then your teammates start dropping out until im on my own, then some poor soul joins when it's about 19 to 2 and wonder's what the hell is going on ! Hopefully in D2 they'll iron out some of the following -
Fairly evenly matched teams ( not the one sided ones we see regular)
Spawning away from the opposing team instead of spawning into a shock/flame turret that's been waiting for you.
Some sort of substitution if team members quit ( poss NPC bosses or similar)
Punishment for Quitters ( 2 hour pvp ban ?)
    And finally cheating scum !

    - When a bunch of randoms are pit against a full team of 4, expect people to quit.

    - Since there is no skill based matchmaking, expect people to quit.

    - And you will likely lose to the matchmaking itself before you actually legitimately lose to the opposing team.

There is nothing wrong with quitting a Skirmish match when there are no parameters in place that persuades you not to and there should be no punishment for quitting. Actually, would you prefer punishment for quitting over better matchmaking? I'd certainly prefer the latter.

I think it would be amazing if Skirmish had a tournament mode that opened every hour. 8 or 16 teams and the further you go, the more loot you get. That's a way they can generate some statistics that they could matchmake on.

That's a nice idea! I play a few games with modes like these. It definitely keeps other players coming for good loot.

I've got mixed feelings on this.

Quitters annoy me a lot and I do feel like there should be some sort of deterrent even if it is just a big hit to your win/losses and k/d ratio stats.

However, I've been dropped into losing matches and ending up winning them on more than a few occasions, so sometimes it's good that someone dropped out.

I've also been left on my own in a game only to have 3 new teammates help me win the match and I've also won games where we were down to 3 for a lot of the match because the weak link quit.

As for the spawning yes it could use some work but I'm not sure how they would go about that on such a small map.
I've had situations where I've spawned right into a losing firefight but also died because the other team have spawned right back into the fight while my team has spawned right at the other side of the map.

Matchmaking could definitely use some work but again how do they do it when you have groups of 4,3,2 and solos all in the same matchmaking pool?
Do you make solo queues, duo queues and 4 man queues?
Then what about trios? 3v3 matches?

The solo queue would be fine but you would have much, much longer waits in the group queues.

I agree that all these things could be better but I don't see a clear solution to any of them in td1 but hope they figure it out for td2.

They should do a few things for such modes. Namely better matchmaking. Teams vs teams. Solos in a bit pot. And my favourite - be more transparent with stats.

    I.e.

At the start of each match show:

    1. The last 5 match result for each player. i.e. L W L W W

    2. The best sequential run of game wins vs loses.

    3. The number of games person A has played with players B C and D. And the wins and losses.

    4. The number of times a player has left a game.

Then give the option for ppl to leave pre-start of the game. Maybe 10seconds in.

Then when the game starts if they leave, they get a default Loss against their name.

    Alternatively.....

For every player a team finds themselves down, an opposing member of the team (by rank of current game) be held in pause mode until someone joins and makes the numbers equal again. For every new player joining, one paused player from the opposing team should be unpaused to continue playing.

For every 10 games a player leaves in mid session, they should suffer some penalty like a pvp level down or temp banning from that game mode.

But it will only work if you balance out the matchmaking big time.

There is no balance to the game so you get what you get with it.

It'd be good if they had divisions, such as, Good players div 1, average div2, and novices div 3. When you get kills/ stats good enough you go up a division. It'd hopefully stop the new players from getting a battering and quitting, and instead have a level playing field, and get better for the next division.

I think that if you rage quit a PVP match, you should be on a 10 minute cooldown period where you cant start a new game. It's mildy annoying in LS, but if you lose just one player in skirmish, it is almost a guaranteed loss.

There's a lot of good ideas there agentcoats. Hopefully they'll take on some of your ideas for D2 😁
