I don't know about anyone else but I prefer using night time as my advantage especially on certain missions. sometimes daytime is better. the only way to simulate time faster is on single player fast travelling places. otherwise if I really wanna do a stealth op at night I'm just sitting there for hours(leaving game on and doing other things) I want to have a way to "fast travel" to a certain time.
This has been requested a few times already so the devs are aware. Fully agree. I suggested something along the lines of getting within striking distance but out of sight, doing some recon, then having a ‘Set OP’ option with a select time function. Then you could recon in the day and fast forward to night to carry out the op without having to repeat you obs.
I prefer morning time. The game by default loads after launching it to 8 AM. You may think bright skies are only a negative detection wise, but the truth is you get some nice dark shadows too. It may not be as advantageous as night time when many guards are asleep, but it can also be harder to maintain visual orientation when everything is dark. It can also be harder to spot all the enemies when playing without HUD, and let's face it, the last thing you want is not being able to know where enemies are when the crap hits the fan. I find good visibility can avoid that scenario though.
The only workaround is to fast travel to various nearby fast travel points to pass time quickly, but then you can’t do this while you’re at the objective.
A related problem is that it’s only dark for about 15min of real time. That’s not enough time to execute a large scale night op. Invariably, I’m still finishing the op by noon the next day (which is only 30-40min of real time).
It's a bit of a hassle, but the way I ensure daylight for every mission is to go to a safehouse nearest to the mission, exit to desktop, then relaunch the game. It will always launch at 8AM. Part of the hassle is it usually takes a good 30 seconds or so before all the fullscreen map is drawn into detail. I always wait for that though because otherwise you get some microstutter and certain bits of audio missing, like vehicle doors opening/closing, and you often won't even hear the engine until you've moved about 20' - 50' or so.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
I love that this game has a huge, beautiful open world, with no level loading, but since the above mentioned assets aren't loaded by the time you get in game and can cause the problems mentioned, I think they should have had an option to preload textures, even if it takes a bit longer to get through the initial load screens when launching the game.
Maybe it's not a problem on SSDs, especially the new high speed nvme drives, but for the simple fact that they are very expensive storage space for things like large file games, they really should have put in a texture preload option.
There is no way I can do what you are recommended on my rig, it usually takes about 2 to 3 mins (at least) for my game to be ready to play and I am always Offline... I open the game and steams needs to load then uplay looking for patches, which btw I don't know why if I have it Offline as well???, then the game and then the server tells me it has an error and twice I need to make it start again so... nah, I will deal with it and play for the few minutes that I do goofing around
