I haven't had much time with the new perks yet but overall I do like it better than before.
What I don't like is getting zero compensation for the 30-40k I put into gear stats, I had 12 different gear sets maxed, 4 different heroes I had maxed out for 3 of their outfits.
When the gear was all replaced, I had all my inventories full btw, most of the perks on the gear was the exact same, so a good 90% of it was garbage.
I think everyone who played prior to this new system should get nothing less than 20k steel, people who've been playing from season 1 should get at least 30k, I know that I've probably spent quadruple that on the gear that was destroyed.
I am playing this game since the open beta. I never lost hope but now I am done with it. This is the greedy behavior ibisoft had at the beginning which led to a boycott of the game. Maybe they need another wake-up call. But anyway I deleted it already since I need some space for another game that comes out next week. From next week thursday for honor will be dead anyway. I will still miss the game though
You could say in a week it will be... Red Dead...Originally Posted by Aivendil1 Go to original post

Been playing since mid-season 3 and I completely understand why most of you are angry. I won't bother with the "just gonna sit idle and take it in the back" argument cause most of the game's history I've witnessed since I started playing has been the same. There are things that we can convince them to change, especially when it comes to the game's lifeline and there are others on which it's clear the community is overreacting. They always listen, they have proven that in the past a handful of times but the matter is that obviously you'll never be able to please everyone.
For about a year and a half people have been complaining about the staggering gap between damage and overall combat benefits when comparing a starter hero to a maxed one. Maybe it will come as a surprise to you, but it could probably be that we''ve all had an illusion of gear "builds" during all this time. How amazing does it feel when you are limited to 3 practical choices once you have to decide what stats you want to level? You stop caring what the other players have because they probably have one of the other two builds anyways. Used to be the "Glass-Cannons", the "Avengers" and the "Neutrals". Think it was season 7 that pretty much removed the "glass-cannon" build since it further penalized damage-only builders. So now we had 2. How is that fun?
Now that they decided to minimize unfairness due to gear stats and try to make skill matter, people want their old system back. And no, while I may have felt as if I had accomplished something when I was running around the battlefield with double refined 180 gear, it never felt as fulfilling as being able to take down a 180 geared warrior with a gear 0 hero instead. I know there are always spammers, "exploiters" and the like that make you question the game's balance but the fact that people think gear score made things in such situations "fairer" is hypocritical beyond belief. You may have lost that extra revive speed, that extra revenge buildup and damage, but don't forget that everyone else has lost all of that as well. Some heroes had better stamina management compared to yours.? Then don't forget that previously they also had the ability to make that management even better, same as you. On that aspect at least, we all have common ground. For that I am grateful.
The actual culprit here related to all the drama I believe, is not the fact that gear stats disappeared, but the huge amounts of steel spent and the mostly gimmicky perks put ontop of the old system. They made us think that we were working towards making our characters better by grinding for hours and hours, while at the same time they knew that the system was flawed and needed tweaking and modifications. We grinded steel, spent alot of sweat trying to find that one gear piece to perfect our "builds" and in the end we got robbed of all that steel and had a "sorry not sorry, deal with it" gift of 5 crates in hopes of shutting us up.
What do I believe? I think that the current system has a future in this game. Right now though it just seems half-baked, there are some perks that simply outperform others in the vast majority of situations, so we are pretty much falling back to the same old illusion of choice when it comes to customization. The only way I see Ubi fixing this mess is giving the lesser perks a little extra to come on par with the obvious choices, something that will make you really want to experiment with different builds. They also have to compensate everyone for real this time, at least give us 20k steel, something that we can actually use... crates though... really??? Make changing item appearance free because we are losing steel for pretty much every meaningful action now. So far those are the biggest concerns of mine, will update you if I think of something else.
Well... I plan on it. There's not so many symbols that it cant be memorized and I've certainly put to memory a lot more for other games (Souls and Dragons Dogma to name two).Originally Posted by OoKaMi_79 Go to original post
I just spent 7000 steel to try and improve my gear with the perksystem..and I got sh**!!! Its so bad.. I can`t tell This system is so stupid..anbd you have to invest so much more and it still doesnt work.
and I dont understand the symbols and the strange lines that shouldcould form a circle in the end..what are they for?????
Its soo brutal stupid what you did...I realy wondering how this could happen? Dont youi have a Chef who tells you to STOP it???
How can you impolement a new system without explaining it properly??? How could it be, that I have to open up another screen, to get this sh** Perks explained or to understand the meaning of the symbol??!
OMG!!!!! We had such a cool game..
Who's been complaining? The gear stat system had been revamped several times already and was in a pretty good place sans revenge builds. That could have been taken care of without trashing the whole thing.Originally Posted by RebelOfWar Go to original post
And even if the benefit discrepancy is significant enough to matter (which I generally don't agree with)... that's the point of having a maxed hero, and that's the point of starting a new hero, that's the point of video game progression: the more you play, the better your character is. You need to do the progression to get the hero to its full potential. It's what, 9 reps? It's not instantaneous, but it can be done in a few weeks of casual play with XP bonuses. Punishing players who worked hard on their builds and have been playing since pre-release because it gives them a small advantage over builds with less gear level is ridiculous.
And guess what? A good player is always a good player, regardless of gear score or rep. Gear stats were about playstyle and being able to be flexible with how one wanted to play. I am sick of changing my fight style every time Ubi decides to overhaul the game's mechanics. We're 1.5 years from release and they're still experimenting with core game mechanics.
The system wouldn't be such a big deal if ya could hand pick the perks and if they were more usefull. Instead each hero has a handfull of predefined perks, some are so god damn situational that their not even worth looking at (like aegis), this really limits how you can play a hero. With this system you are at ubis mercy and their balancing. Picking my warlord in gear activated modes feels almost like i'm gimping myself and my team.
P.S. keeping track of what perks you want post match, in the rewards screen is a legit pain in the *** considering you can only have 60 items in your hero's inventory.
+1
The worst part about it is all the steel we invest in our gear before only for it to turn out to all have gale perk on it and nothing else. All my double refined re-skinned gear worth... who knows how much steel. Ten grand, maybe? It's gone. I don't get that steel back. I have to re-spend all that steel on new stuff. And for what...? A couple of temporary move perks on my Nobushi? Uh, what...?
