    Capture The Flag

    Hey Ubi,

    Here is a video to illustrate a game mode called Capture The Flag.

    I know many of you guys at Ubi maybe were still at school when this game mode was popular so possibly you have never heard of it before

    Imagine how good the Arcade MP could be with the addition of a Capture The Flag game mode. The video really demonstrates how good the game mode is and how teamwork is involved in winning against a team of real people instead of AI bots. Its almost like a hockey match.

    So, therefore, please consider adding this fantastic game mode. If you want to make it truly unique and innovative you could possibly call it capture the bible or capture the bliss or something corny and fun like that to make it a FC5 MP game mode.

    What does everyone else think?

    Ctd in fc2 was / is one of the best ctf modes i ever saw in gaming history. The smoke did the trick, you knew where to go but without exactly knowing where is was. It triggered your hunting instinct. No need for dumb radar screens. Another thing that should comeback in future fc multiplayer games is, helping your team mates back on their feet. Ubi is always talking about team work, here is one measure to promote it.

    Please,bring back CtD fc2 style in future farcry’s

    I thought capture the diamond was poor compared to Steal the Sample which was one of 5 multiplayer modes with Far Cry Predator.

    With CTD (FC2) You had to press a button on the controller to pick up the diamond which I feel was un-necessary with STS mode you just walked into the sample and instantly picked it up, you didn't have to press a button to place the diamond back so no need for it picking up.

    Also only one player could pick up the diamond, if I remember correctly should the player be killed while carrying the diamond then the diamond would shortly after reset I don't think another team mate could pick it up which was a bad decision IMO.

    With STS mode you could throw the sample like a grenade, if it was close enough to another player it would auto attach so was very useful to throw down to a team mate from a high area where you would die if you tried jumping down, or you could throw it up to a team mate maybe there was no way of climbing but you could throw / pass to another player.

    I agree that the smoke was good in CTD mode when the player was carrying you could see where they were, in STS mode the sample glowed on and off so you could also see them - this was much better in darker maps.

    Another thing which was brilliant in STS mode was that you were restricted when carrying, you could not fire say a 50.Cal sniper rifle or rocket launcher or other power weapons so to use them you would have to throw the sample to the floor use the weapon then pick the sample up again, if you took too long it would time out and reset back to its original position.
    You could shoot pistols and AK47's and some other weapons while carrying but you also could not duel wield (something else that was fun back then firing 2 weapons at once)

    As for healing players this was something I really didn't like, most experiences I had were that a player down hasn't been down for long so when you heal them usually you also get killed.
    The reason is because the healing animation was garbage because you were forced to go all the way there was no option to snap out of healing and defend yourself if you came under fire, that would have helped and also if the player on the floor who is down if they could have fired / defended you while healing them again that would have helped but for me in FC2 / FC3 the healing was poor I would want them to expand on it and also allow players to tick a box when publishing so you could turn Healing on or off and lock the decision to the map.

    As for CTF Mode this was mentioned by myself and Lazy Mapper we loved the Far Cry Instincts games and that was our fave mode along with Seek & Secure which was a capture the station type mode so much better than Domination.

    When Far Cry 2 released there was a petition by the PC side to try and get Assault Mode which was from the original PC game back in 2004 by Crytek, FC2 at the time had 4 game modes which was seen as weak especially as Predator had 5 excellent modes.

    FC3 had 4 modes
    FC4 had 3 modes at launch then they got a 4th called OVERRUN which was at a cost and was dead on arrival.
    FC5 has 2 modes so is the weakest multiplayer game of them all but I guess the other argument could be that it also has 4 solo / coop modes too.

    If you guys had played Steal The Sample you would have loved it because been able to throw that sample made it so much more fun imagine if that worked with the diamond in FC2.

    Agreed. STS was such a great game I wish they would port the game over to the XB1

    Yea you could pick it up if someone dropped it. Also, if the enemy team dropped it, I think your team had to run onto it before it would reset back to your own base.

    For me the best part of Capture The Diamond is (and I don't know if this was in STS also) that you can not score a point if both diamonds were being carried at the same time. As the video shows, before mics were used, you had to really play strategically. I think the vid must be either the PC or xbox version as there was no on-screen messaging on PS3.

    Man how i miss CTD! Had soo many great nights playing that mode.
    Yes you could pick up the diamond champ, or even revive the guy with it..as sab said.
    Remember those team-mates who would put a bomb near the diamond station, and blow you up just before you could score? Then theyd take it and score themselves lol.

    "BRING ME MY DIAMONDS!!!!!!"

    Ive finally uninstalled FC5, not happy about it...but i wasnt playing, and needed space.

    So catchup with you guys for FC6?

    I'll def stick my head in the door (yea im a fanboy), to see if its got CTD/STS, 8v8 (at least), and respawning vehicles. PLEASE for the love of farcry..keep them generic shapes!!

    I have no concerns about the editor, theyve never let us down with that. Tho UBI did the same in FC5 as they also did in FC3, and that was to lower the budget..when there wasnt anything wrong with it in the first place. Consistency

    P.S. Yeah i think that was PC sab.

    Yes it was the same, one thing with FC5 using Helicopters and Planes my opinion is that a Flag holder should have been limited to a set time in the air to prevent them from staying up there too long which could spoil the game.
    Often in CTD / STS someone on the opposite side would hide with the sample / diamond for long periods of the match, even though the diamond omitted smoke and the sample glowed it was still possible on some maps to be unseen so after a set time of inactivity that carriers position should maybe show up to keep the game flowing at a faster pace - unsure what others think of that.

    Often we would create maps with the opposite teams diamond / sample so you only had to get back to score, they should do like Halo too where you only have the one flag which then creates an attack / defend scenario.
