So yesterday, I decided to give myself a Survival run. So I spawned to a Safe-house, looted the fabric and pill then off to the next Safe house I went. When I decided it was about time to make it to the helicopter crash, 2 other players went ahead and looted the whole place. So I was like, there are quite some good spot where I can get weapon kits.
Upon getting a few weapon kits, electronics and warm clothes, I crafted myself a blue G36C with a hand-stop for stability and a suppressor. I literally looted about a 3 landmarks and decided to make my way to the real BR arena, the DZ.
When I am in the Survival DZ I panic and that's with reason, the background music is so thrilling and the mobs can just come from every angle. I equipped myself with a Pulse and Turret to distract NPCs, I was like f*** I am going to get the antiviral, craft my flare gun and get the hell outta here.
After a second thought I was like, let me do something more dangerous, go to every possible contamination tunnels and grab as many Div techs as possible, I went down to DZ1 contamination area and there was 2 players fighting NPCs, so I grabbed as many Div tech and went to the next safe-house, crafted myself a flare gun and another high end G36C then instead of going to the extraction, a third thought told me to instead clear a few DZ landmarks and boi, this high end G36C was doing all the job for me, I cleared about 3 landmarks and went to the extraction next to Kalkesse, called an extraction and although the hunter was giving some hard time I managed to finish then pouff 3 other hunters showed up, I realized I was not alone.
Funny thing is all 3 other players died to their hunter, I managed to kill another 2 but the third one was getting closer to me with the Elbow of death and killed.
All to say, I never had such a fun time like this in Survival. This to me how The division was to be. This is the best form of BR
Yea Survival is the essence of the Division experience.
When I first played Survival (and was blown away), I thought, and I still think this to a degree, "This is how the Division is supposed to be" "This is the Division".
I value Survival as much as the entire game with every other single DLC.
If Survival got the care and changes it needed, I bet it'd match or outperform and BR out their.
Survival is great. It is my favourite DLC. It is a pity that it is eking out a niche existence in Division. Many players have never tried it and the devs have long since stopped caring for it. Especially, Survival PVP is/was awesome. A much more authentic PVP experience than DZ etc with all the meta sets, glitchers etc. Unfortunately, there are no players left who still play Survival PVP and you have to wait ages in matchmaking and game finding. Therefore, I hardly play it anymore, but I will always remember it as one of the bests parts of Division 1.
Agree. But some ppl just dont like this mode. I guess its not for everyone.
Personally Id love to see mini GEs with this sort of thing happening in the LZ rather than having missions. Rather than a whole week or whatever these periodic occurances would be like a weather events. Affecting players ability to traverse with fast travel across map. Theyd also have to watch their water, food etc. Maybe if TD2 is staged in the summer we could get torrential thunderstorms filling up low lying land, affecting water sources etc etc. So finding water would be necessary mini objective etc etc.
Wishful thinking I guess.
Great job being a TDBA. Maybe thats short enough for you.Originally Posted by Mordscythe Go to original post
Keep things respectful. Sharing experiences is part of what makes Survival enjoyable, especially for me.Originally Posted by Mordscythe Go to original post
@OP, nicely done. I hope you have that Phoenix Shield checked off.
Survival is not the player- killing-face-tank shooter DLC as LS or Skirmish. As you said, not every player likes it. In Survival, you need to know the map quite well and you a strategy for you cannot rely on your classy Nomad or Tact, but this is exactly what I like with it.
@rosch15 - well said mate. I have some buddies who insist on using their PvP tactics in PvE missions. Only through constant comms did we manage flawless legendaries with them. Needless to say these same friends are the only ones in our group who cannot even get to the DZ in Survival. I tried to coach one of them but he tried to take out two purples with his pistol - even though he was told to back off and re-route. I really enjoy Survival - wish that players (PvE) would spawn all across the map instead of the current cluster effect. This morning I spawned and exited with two other players from the same safe house.
Changes - remove the cheesy meds thing - instead make water and food more important to stay alive - Hungry - no cans/bars - lose health slowly - Thirsty - no water/soda = lose health slowly. The idea is to see how long you can Survive instead of having these speed runners who think that by getting to the DZ and taking all the divtec and materials and extracting first makes them superheroes. Don't need divtec to extract if you are savvy.
