The continual dumbing down and over streamlining and simplification of the Parkour in Assassin's Creed is disappointing, especially since Unity had the all around best out of any AC game, and one of the best Parkour systems in a game period (only beat by Dying Light, and Mirrors edge, although you can't fairly compare them because they are of different genres), it just had a bit of a learning curve, like the earlier games. But the new one is overly simplified to the point of becoming non functional and immersion breaking at times. Unity's WAS buggy, but the animation and general control was so polished and fluid that it made looking past the small bugs easy. And while I didn't like the overly unrealistic jump size of Arno, I did quite enjoy it. Please Ubisoft in an update for this game or in the next one, attempt to upgrade the Parkour system again.
Also a walk speed slider for Odyssey would be nice.
Thank you for reading.
Yeah true, my biggest issue with it is the lack of control I feel. Going into a window or balcony when I meant to climb past, stopping on an object I thought I could do a vault or roll over with the climb down button, at times undershooting jumps the character should clearly be able to make. And Unity's Freerunning flashiness was one of it's charms in my opinion. I my self do Parkour so it's dissapointing considering they've done better in the past. The one and only thing I'll give the earlier games is the sense of danger, the clunkiness/touchiness of them at heights made you really consider and take your time, so you wouldn't fall to your death and or start all over again... And now there's no fall damage at all, although I do kind of like it cause of the whole "demi god" angle of things.Originally Posted by cawatrooper9 Go to original post
It's better than Origins. First of all we can finally vault over stuff freely, which is awesome! And also we seem to be able to jump a bit farther now (I might be wrong on this), which is fun.
I miss Unity's level of parkour, for sure. It wasn't the most realistic, but the diversity and the fluidity of animations (when they are not buggy, of course) were simply superb. Personally I'd love to see a return of that.
Thank you, would love to see a Unity like return to the Parkour, at least in terms of fluidity and control felt.Originally Posted by UbiCosmos Go to original post
