PC vs PS4 Pro - Which version should I buy?

    Hi,

I want to buy Odyssey, but I don;'t know if I should buy it on PC or a PS4 Pro. I want smooth gameplay and good guality and while i know my PC will handle the graphics I'm not so sure about the framerate. So, there is the question: PC or Ps4 Pro? Here are my specs:

    Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ 2.60 GHz

    8 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 8 GB

If your PC can run it at 60fps, defs go for it. If you want a smooth 30fps semi-persistently, PS4.

The new patch actually optimized the console versions so go for the frame rate you want ^-^

Ah, my bad. The new patch optimized a lot of the game world where fps drops to 20 or 10 were very frequent. It was a mass optimization and bug fix patch.

If you want 60 fps or higher, go for PC :3

Unfortunately, I don't have a very good rig. I can't afford to upgrade my GTX 970 so it runs most games, that require 4GB of VRAM or more, very poorly. Plus it's to expensive to take the risk, so think about the costs too.

Good luck and have fun ^-^

I had the same decision before i purchased the game.

I have the same graphics card as you, but I have the desktop version of the I7 6700. I've got the game running quite nicely on a mix of ultra and very high at about 35-40 FPS, which is quite good for a little laptop. I was going to buy on my PS4 pro for the higher resolution, but i get better texture, view distance and shadow quality on PC.

Ultimately its up to you what you are looking for mostly in terms of visuals. The only difference I can image between the PS4 pro and PC is going to be resolution vs graphic fidelity. Framerate is likely going to be negligible as I cant see the PS4 doing anymore than 30 fps.

    I've been looking at the 1000 series but they're all so expensive ; - ;

The 2000 series is worse, almost 2k for a GTX 2070. PS4 was my safest option. I'll buy it on Steam anyways, to support Quebec, cuz there's a good chance I'll upgrade in a few years anyways.

Sorry fella I was replying to the OP. I have a GTX 980m 8gb.

But you have a 970 which is about 25% better than a GTX 980m anyway, so depending on your CPU your rig should run the game fine. Although i wouldn't expect 60fps, its a really demanding game graphically

All good :3 My CPU is super old, it's an i7 4790k but it does the job. My rig overall is 5 years old but I bought the GTX 970 last year, I think. It's slowly upgrading

(I dont know what is wrong with the browsers on my work computer, this website barely works, I cannot reply directly to posts, edit, or copy / paste)

$2k for a 2070? Dont know where your looking but you can get a 2080 for around 900 bucks or less.

I chose to get it on PC and I have to say that even though I miss 4k and HDR that the PS4 pro offers, I prefer the 60-70 fps at max settings on PC. Only problem I had was that the game made my CPU overheat, so I had to go get a liquid cooler for it and install an additional fan in the chassis. XD
