I'm sorry, but no. The game is completed. It's an RPG with a level cap, and this happens in every RPG with a level cap, which would be just about all of them. What this isn't, however, is an MMO, where you will continually want to play one "main" for the lifetime of the game, grinding end game dungeons, hoping the RNG gods reward you with the desired piece of gear you're grinding for. I'm not playing a SP RPG to grind end game dungeons forever, I'm playing it for the story, and the gear is a nice bonus. Way back in the day, a little game called Neverwinter Nights released with a level 20 cap. If you were playing in online servers, you could play that toon, as in an MMO, indefinitely. Your xp bar didn't move, but you could still face any challenges that a server designer had included. When the level cap was increased, we learned that our xp had been banked, and some of us hit the new cap as soon as we logged in, because we'd been having a lot of fun playing our characters, and not worrying about xp. A level cap does not equate to an incomplete game, however.Originally Posted by chacktastic Go to original post
I think most of us here are close to level 50 or 50 already with 1/3 or less than 50% completed the game. It's not that most of us are rushing and not enjoying the lore (I think) I can speak for my self that I am enjoying the game looking for treasures, exploring caves, taming alpha animals, and recruiting the best lieutenants that's why I hit level 50 in chapter 2 plus I'm playing the game to 100% completion that's how I play rpg games and I haven't done a lot of story missions I'm 1/3 in map.
For my self Im more curious if there would be live additions or stories in the game I believe most of us are playing because of the Greek lore or Isu/ AC lore. Would be nice if there will be some other benefit of hitting level 50 cause the experiences that we get doesn't go anywhere.
I bet all you people complaining did not pay one bit of attention to the story did you? Did anyone catch the juno references or even follow how the story differs and stays true to the actual war? Naw just raced to beat it and now have that bitter taste. Those side missions people mention that seem pointless now because your max actually had a impact on things....but race to that finish line. Sad some are not enjoying it the way they meant it to be played. In the words of magneto "young people"
I think it's pretty presumptuous to tell people how they should play the game. Everyone enjoys a game differently, especially when it is such a big one. I'm still in the middle of the main story, simply because I'm completing each new zone entirely including all side quests and locations. I'm not "rushing" the game at all. Still, I've been at max level for some time now, and all those quests, locations and items that are thrown at me have zero progress factor. That's why it's feeling pretty bland.
If this game wants to fill the AC gap for a long time as it claims to, it needs to have some end game content/motivation, and xp being relevant after max level is a big part of this.
Not entirely true. All the FF games are single player JRPGs which feature end-game dungeons you can farm for good gear. Especially necessary for NG+.Originally Posted by robertthebard Go to original post
I'd go as far to say that, because of the level cap, with no overleveling function, level scaling has made the side quests obsolete and redundant. The only reason why anyone at end-game would do them is for curiosity. The rewards they offer do not apply to end-game characters. If we were rewarded with RNG legendaries or a Gift From the Gods XP system, the side quests would have a purpose. As of now, they're just stories.
I only do quests for the reward, so I need an incentive to do them. Since these side quests offer nothing other than XP and drachmae, I don't need to do them. Quebec should have left the leveled zones alone and turned off level scaling. The purpose of side quests is to do them all before leaving each zone, to get enough XP to hit the zone cap and defeat higher level mobs. Honestly, the level scaling system killed these side quests.
