Hi,
I'm new at asking for help, I'm total solo player but I wonder if anybody else is having same problem. Also can the hunt for el yeti be played at anytime or only during a challenge?.

Fast travel and repeat the mission... it is possibly a glitch or bug and you won't be able to get out.
Then again, you can try moving out until you get tired and then fast travel and repeat the mission.
I don't know anything about el Yeti.

Did you try shooting through the trapdoors in the floors? That is a classic R6 move and was how I got out.

Fast travel once you lose your wanted level.
Yes you can hunt the yeti without the challenge being active. Check his dead body to get his outfit.

You can go for him anytime you want to get the suit.
