All the mechanics work fine in this game if u take the time to LEARN them!
There are armors that proc things when u parry, there are armors that proc things when u make a perfect dodge... etc etc so dont tell me this game is just dodge dodge dodge and maybe learn to play or go play something that will hold your hand and give you everything that YOU think you need within the first hour of the game.
Dodge works, and parrying isn't necessary if you know how to dodge. Not only do you not get hit, but they decided to really break combat, and add bullet time on perfect dodges because...I don't even know. Combat in this game isn't difficult or challenging. It's dumb, and at the higher difficulty levels, needlessly tedious. The biggest hurdle is having appropriately leveled gear, and putting points into the passives, and the handful of abilities you're going to actively use.
My advice? Stop trying to be a ninja, and start playing this game like you're Achilles. If you're on normal and having issues...well, then the problem is you. If you're on nightmare, or hard, even, then yeah, I get your frustration. I felt like my sword was a wiffle ball bat until around level 25 or so, when I had enough ability points to really lay on the pain. I wish the game was more about skill than just pure stats, but that's the future of this franchise, for better or worse.
Achiles was not a spartan lol. He was a meremadonian. They would not exist for another 14 wars? I see your idea though. Achilles if he existed- no real proof: used spear not duel swords as shown in Troy. Shield made out of lion hide, black like marble.
UB thought nah let's take the titan quest version of spartan. No shield needed

C) None of the above is relevant.
I'm talking about his characterization. You know, running head first into battle to attain glory aka the highest kill count. I'm saying be hyper aggressive.
I've spent around 10h playing it and so far I am not liking it. Combat doesn't feel impactful, ships seem to have rocket engines in the way they sail and steer, you can sink other ships by shooting arrows (!!!) at them, you're a spartan without a shield and voice acting is horrible. The world is gorgeous, I'll give them that. But I too wish I at least waited for a sale before I bought this game. I mean, I love the series and even the games I disliked, I played at least twice, but Odyssey for me is among the worst game in the series (even though Origins was among the best).
Yup. And the problem with gaming industry are players who'd enjoy just about anything as long as it's flashy and EPIC and studios that try to cater to them and shift their historical fiction series to historical fantasy settings with SUPERPOWERS and EPICNESS. That's why in the next AC game players will be able to fly and shoot lazors from their eyes. Cause why the hell not? People will think it's a masterpiece with tons of great stuff to do.
You're going to call ME the "problem" becuz I don't mind a game themed in MYTHOLOGY that has some supernatural elements within it?Originally Posted by DaelosTheCat Go to original post
Maybe you hadn't noticed that your character sits in an "animus" chair hooked up to a machine where they relive past assassin's memories or Isu & POE's in this game?
I assure you, if none of that was present here, they'd have complainers pouring in, whining that they missed such a great opportunity to add that type of content in an RPG and in our first Greek game that involves the gods.
Maybe what you like, I'd consider boring and lacking any imagination if you can't grasp the theme in this game? They cannot please everyone in this franchise becuz players are diametrically opposed to one another in opinion.
