Having played everything you can do up to this point I'd like to see a crafting/forging update added. Find or make a basic common grey item and forge and pick the addition perks for resources and drachmae at the hephaistos workshop. Allows for a lot less hoping to find certain items when switching builds and adds to the RPG aspect of the game.
Between earning money to upgrade the perks you can put on weapons at hephaistos workshop, getting resources to upgrade your favorite gear (which also costs a lot of drachmae), maxing out your ship, continuing to level to get mastery perk points and doing contracts and bounties there is a lot to continue to do. Me personally I'm level 99 already with a bunch of additional mastery perks. Waiting to finish all content coming out before I do a new game plus on nightmare (on hard now).
the game is a travesty of what AC game are, the game break all the lore from AC.
And im not speaking about the memory from the DNA from the spear. Im speaking that the game is suppose to be a relive of a memory so dialogue choice have no place on a game like this (1 point for Ubi to get popular stuff on the game).
They make Kasanadra a great super hero, from not taking dmg after level 20, literally u can jump from a highest mountain and you are safe (2 point for Ubi trying to make a popular game for everyone).
Naval combat is a joke compare to Black Fang.
Side mission are a repeat over and over, locations are a copy paste from one to other. Till you get the MYTHICAL location that are out-off touch with what AC is, ever other game always explain this Mythical monster or timeline as glitch of the animus, now the Piece of Ede can create this magic monster for no reason at al (3 point of Ubi trying to make the game "more fun" for everyone)
Armor system is cool, but the choice the make for the armor break all immersion on the game, claiming a building with full heavy armor make 0 sense.
Over all the game is fun but should have been call Greek Hero Simulator. No a AC.
This show how out of touch Ubi is with the franchise they should take note from actual game that try something new and success like GoW or RRD2.
I miss AC Origin that game was so well connected to the franchise and took a new aproche, AC odyssey feel like 100 step on the opposite direction.
Your post was very thorough but I feel aside from the actual construction of the game it feels like the game was built around the setting In stead of using the setting to communicate a story.
As an old AC fan trying to get back into the series after the success of Origins, I am trying to figure out what story was actually told with this game? Was the point to tell the story of the damage that the order has caused prior to forming the Hidden ones or was the point to simply live a story in an ancient setting with an AC theme? I am starting my NG+ file and I am just trying to figure out how "my odyssey" matters. The game is fun and for the most part well crafted but I am having a hard time finding any gravity to my story.
Thanks,
Why is there no faction affinities? So far (that I've seen) there are Spartans, Athenians, Pirates, Mercenaries and Daughters of Artemis. Not sure if there are any other factions though I have just reached level 32. I know that there is also the Cult of Kosmos but they are obviously the main enemy, like the Templars in previous editions.
I wonder how difficult it would be for each person that you kill in combat (not assassinations or other stealth kills) or kind deed or times you helped one faction or another had an impact on your standing with that faction and other factions? After all if I do nothing but destroy the Athenians wouldn't I gain a certain notoriety with the Athenians causing them to either fight or flee (depending on their military rank and how many soldiers are around)? On the other hand why would the faction(s) that I have been helping not treat me as a hero and allow me access to certain otherwise restricted areas? Perhaps different province leaders that i am aligned with could have a special quest or clue to a cultist. Even some of the dialogue for the conquest battles shows that I'm a hero. The mercenary faction would obviously be much less affected in terms of fight or flee but some could still have a quest or need help with a contract. Also I don't understand why the mercenary tier system exists (it's kinda pointless) mercenaries should not level the same way as your character does. Why are the mercenaries that I've defeated not still shown on the mercenary tab in the pause menu? There is just a string of "undiscovered" mercenaries in the lower tiers. Defeated mercenaries should have more and better loot.
Why can I not have the option to fight with a shield as long as i am not using a heavy weapon? I mean "This is SPARTA!" Many Greeks and other cultures used shield and sword or shield and spear. LOTS of NPCs use a shield.
Anyways I think these types of patches would be amazing additions that I feel would add a ridiculously high replay value, and just make for a more interesting overall gaming experience.
Ubi did SUCH a great job with Kyra! I honestly thought--and certainly hoped--that when I'd finished the main story I'd have the option to go back and at least visit her, because not only was she a great character, she and Alexios had real chemistry. I fully believed and became invested in their romance; it felt real. I could see why these two characters fell in love, and how they complimented each other. Kyra was lovely, and she had intelligence, charm, and real depth. Just a really good character and storyline.Originally Posted by MarcC395 Go to original post
It made the lackluster Neema even more of a disappointment, but that's another issue. As much as I have some issues with this game, and with the RPG elements in general (HATE THEM!), I really do applaud the writer/creator of Kyra for creating such a lovely and believable romance in such a relatively short time. I just really wish we'd been able to revisit her, or yeah, have her as a lieutenant, or something. Even a mention of her somewhere (I revisited Mykonos to look for her, but no luck; it would have been cool if Alexios had said to himself something like, "I heard Kyra left for new adventures," or something), just so we know he didn't forget about her. Even after finishing First Blade and playing the main story all the way through, I view Kyra as the main and major love interest of the game.
YES! I found this really frustrating. There's one quest in particular where you go to get ingredients for a potion. While getting them, you hear soldiers talking about how those very items could be used to make a poison. "Hmm," you think. "I'm glad I heard that. Now I can go back to the NPC and tell her this is a bad idea. I'm glad I took the time to listen to those soldiers. How clever of Ubisoft to drop that clue in there like that!"Originally Posted by Kiroku Go to original post
Then you get back to the NPC and...just hand over the ingredients without a word?! And act surprised when it goes wrong? What...why did you have us hear that bit of dialogue if we can't use that information? It just made me feel like Alexios was stupid, and frustrated me that I was locked into doing this stupid thing that was going to end badly.
I also disliked not being sure if a line of dialogue would end the interaction entirely, or just end that section of dialogue. I was nice to a little girl because I thought I would be able to say something after that to help her. Instead I just walked away and left her there? And told no one that she was even there, which any person with a shred of decency would have done right away? Again, why?
I strongly dislike the idea of dialogue options anyway, because I don't think it or the stupid RPG elements belong in AC. But if you're going to put them in there, at least let us act on what we know and behave like feeling adults if we want to.
I LOVED the Cult storyline--it saved the game for me, because before I hit that I was ready to quit. But I agree, it was VERY disappointing to have almost all the Cult members be strangers--cyphers--random people we'd never heard of. It would have been way more fun and interesting if at least more than three or four of them were characters in the game, people we'd interacted with in the past. Even if it was just a side quest or something. I would have liked the unveiling of the Cult members to be an actual surprise.
- Who is the real antagonist? I killed like hundreds of cultists and didnt know anything about them except what the small texts told me about them. No tension throughout the game and no feeling that its really necessary to kill the cultists or a special person
It also would have been nice if some of the "clues" had been actual CLUES. We never had to figure out anything--probably because the Cultists were all strangers--instead we were just handed their identities one by one. I can imagine it would be very difficult to give them all real clues and storylines, so I'm not asking for that, just for a few of them to be us figuring it out on our own, for real, and unmasking people we thought were helpful and/or our friends.

And for all the talk about how unchallenging the old system was, or how you just stood there waiting to counter (which, if you played it that way it was your own fault), in the old system I never found myself forced to just stand there waiting to be attacked because I had no other options, whereas that happens to me all the time in the new system; if I'm out of adrenaline and facing shielded enemies, I literally have no choice but to stand there waiting to dodge so I can get a couple of hits in and build up enough adrenaline to take the shields away. The new combat is cartoony, not stylish like it used to be. Hacking and slashing away at damage-sponge enemies is not fun, especially when you get ganged up upon by soldiers and mercenaries, which happens often; and it is ultimately a bore.
...Because you've apparently forgotten about Evie and Aveline? Or any number of strong, heroic female NPCs in previous games? I dunno.Originally Posted by rorobfo Go to original post
Because @ubisoft did an extraordinary good job designing a very successful game like ACOD that plays with genders in a way, that we players in a somewhat safe game simulation setting can experience situations, which we would not make in real life with that ease.
Still these in-game experiences generate feelings. Deep feelings, which stay in our minds and which generate the needs to discuss them in order to work them up. You can see this in threads of this forum or on reddit or anywhere.
Stuff like "is Kassandra the canon?" and "if i have to play a female character i fear my fragile masculinity takes a hit".
Yeah, literally no one has ever actually said that last thing. Or even thought it, for that matter.
And your two quotes are nothing like each other, and have nothing to do with each other. "Is Kassandra the canon character?" is a legitimate question, one many of us wish we'd had the answer to before we chose to play Alexios. "If I have to play a female character I fear my fragile masculinity takes a hit," is you thinking you sound much smarter than you do as you sneer at a strawman.
I kind of feel like you completely missed the actual point of the debate/discussion that was the reason LOTFB 2 required edits, but okay.Even the debate of Legacy of the 1st Blade, Episode 2 fits into such a cultural society-level picture. While some may consider it as 'a mess', that ubi is 'having' to patch something within the original story line for me it looks like a great success, that the debate was happening at all. The outcome of the debate just tells us something about the current state of the common / average state and mindset within the gamers society.
Think: No male ever complained of a male game-character, who is arbitrarily f*cking around (even with prostitutes) and using females as fun objects without taking any responsibility. As long as the character is not supposed to get serious with her and take consequences in terms of taking responsibility for the living results of his actions.
But then 'poor Alexios' is felt to be 'forced' into taking responsibility.
Similar for 'poor' Kassandra, why should she become a sex object of dirty male NPCs and why should she be 'forced' into sex with that guy.
You did a very good job raising these questions in these times. Thanks for that.
Question: If you think your fellow players are all a bunch of dumb Neanderthals who are nowhere near as clever and enlightened and superior as yourself, why do you bother joining forums to discuss games with us?
iīve made a extra thread but i will say it here again:
with the release of Atlantis, PLEASE give us an FOV option on consoles, the character is really tiny on a big TV. i want to appreciate my armor and the combat more, the character is much too small for that. it makes the world feel like a miniature world because the cam is just too far away to get immersed in this game. even Dragon Age Origins which is over 10 years old now had this option on console...
if you canīt provide an free setting, make 3 different presets (low, middle, far). i really liked the character size in Origins more and i donīt really understand why there isnīt an option for a bigger character on consoles. these have to be the tiniest Ubisoft characters ever in a modern game..
same with helmets in conversations, why canīt the character wear his helmet? Origins had a setting for that and even a muffled voice when wearing a helmet in conversations and now, there is no option anymore...
these both are things that people want for the immersion...
So I know this is nothing to do with this sorry but I have an idea for a new assassins creed game and was wondering your opinion.
So I've always thought a modern day assassins creed would be awesome but you have the whole problem with cars and guns. Which would sort of ruin it. So my idea is, what if you were to set it in a timeline where the world ended after assassins creed 3 and in a universe where the solar flare hit earth. So think assassins creed crossed with mad max crossed with horizon zero dawn. You could climb all the abandoned skyscrapers and broken buildings. The Templars would still be in it but as tribes that survived and are now trying to rebuild the world in their image and you have to try and stop them from taking over. Maybe have different cities (acting as different biomes) to add variety.
