I have four questions:
One: What happened to Juno?
Two: What happened with William and the helicopter to Alexandria (end of Origins)?
Three: What did Layla do in Alexandria?
Four: Is the modern-day story going anywhere in the games? because it seems like there's more progression in the comics than in the actual games
I'm about eight hours in so far and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm not going to go into everything, I just want to talk about the camera and how weird it is.
If you take the camera and center it to look straight ahead, the characters legs aren't shown, they're under the bottom of the screen. If I look up pretty much at all, the character's head may still be in view, but that's about it. Origins had a really tight camera on Bayek when just walking around, and a slightly less tight camera for when running and climbing, and third much less tight camera for combat. That system felt very well designed, and was far more preferred to what system for the camera there is in Odyssey. Between walking, running/climbing, and combat, it all shares one camera, and it's just a little jarring.
Overall I really enjoy the game. If there was just one thing I would change, it would be to able to select in "Settings" the option for a more AC: Origins type camera style, or an option to be able to customize the way the camera sits and operates in-game.
Thank you guys for making an otherwise excellent game! Can't wait to play much more!
Love it. Two complaints though:
1. Climbing feels...off sometimes. It isn't as fluid as Origins in places and it feels like the climb times are significantly longer this time around. This especially plays rough when there are many, many mountain faces to climb.
2. The weapons bother me. For example, there's a certain bow that you can get after a certain early quest that is literally the Jackal's Gaze, Anubis heads and all, but it is labeled as something entirely new. For the non-rare and none-legendary weapons, they are essentially ALL Origins weapons under generic names. I'm all about re-using assets, but direct translations just come off as a little lazy.
But again, laziness is relative, I suppose. Considering nothing about the game world itself is lazy at all, I suppose that it is a fair trade-off.
Overall, excellent game after around 10 hours of play. Great story, great characters. Very happy with another ASSASSIN'S CREED release.
P.S. - Yes, that spite was intended![]()
I just feel like not playing stealthy, if some of the missions or sides make you have to go undetected then at least your forced along that route but I just want to run into a fort like "THIS IS SPARTA" but sometimes that new bounty mechanic can get a little overwhelming, bounty level 5 and your facing about 6 mercenaries plus the bandits already in the camp, its great fro XP though
I take the game for what it is and I am loving it.
As long Ubi makes fun RPG's like this I am covered.
That doesn't mean it is all sunshine and laughs not exactly.
Due to winners take all and the diktats that come out of it I laugh at all the so-called historical facts this game is supposed to have. Sadly humanity as a whole does not give one f*rt about history!
The directional changes within franchises, series is completely adopted by the gamers industry so continuation in any regard story or otherwise is not what I seek anymore especially not from multinationals that first and foremost work for bottomfeeders like investors.
And that brings me to the dreaded microtransactions Ubisoft uses to the hilt in all games. In today's world, there is no shame after paying full price to feed of addiction to get even more money.
The editions to choose from is also becoming ridiculous.
My heart goes out to those people that try to translate any real creativity into something concrete like a game in this day and age.
Don't forget that addiction is first fueled by PLAYERS greed for items being offered over and above base game. Without that, MT's don't work. Ubi also does a good job at not shoving it in our faces thru the game. If I had money to burn, I'd be buying some of that stuff. And that brings me to the dreaded microtransactions Ubisoft uses to the hilt in all games. I have not played OD yet but like anything, purchases in games are elective and triggered by player desire. ALL companies seek $$ and profit - this is how they continue to thrive & pay employees well in a competitive industry and imo, why Ubi has pivoted the AC franchise to attract a wider audience.
