As a Solo player I never thought I would get the Phoenix Shield. It took me a while to learn the map and speed run it for loot, but now it is done. A true grid. Funny thing after getting the Shield some Randoms asked for help and I help them get their 5 hunters as a Sherpa Shooter. Funny thing is I do not really like survival, because for me life is to short to kill hours upon hours in a single game mode. One part of survival that was fun was hijacking someone else's Helicopter while they were looking for more Hunters; the clock ticked down for extraction took their seat, that was fun, did not even have a flare gun and got out six caches.
That sounds brutal but amazing. Nice job.Originally Posted by OutrightHydra28 Go to original post
Yep, there are many players with a lack of team spirit and logical thinking. I carried several Division friends through Survival for comms or Shield and not each of them really deserved it, but that's ok for me as long as they help me with other comms when I need it. But it is not ok for me anymore with random teams. I really made bad experiences with it. They gladly accept the loot I share, but never share themselves. Each team member goes his own way, ignorant of waypoints. One team member attacks a LM alone, too gready or impatient to wait for the rest of the team, and, of course, dies there. Then, Mr killer machine expects the others to save his ***. On the other hand, nobody bothers to revive me when I go down. I got more often revived by a solo player than by my own team mates and so on. Unfortunately, PVE Survival is not very funny with the average random team. That's why I often go solo into Survival, although I normally prefer playing it in a team.
It is hard for everyone at the beginning, but gets easier as soon as you know the map, especially loot locations, fire barrels and LMs (in order to prevent stumbling in before ready). I guess most players died several times before they made it in DZ for the first time, not to mention kill the hunter and extract. I did my first Survival matches alone in PVE. This is the best way to get familiar with the map. With a bit of experience, Survival can be done without too much trouble, but it still remains challenging. For me, the difficulty level is ok.
This is what I'm talking about. I would prefer to have difficulty levels where I can do Survival, for example, on normal level with easier NPCs, weak hunters, more time, less cold etc. that I canOriginally Posted by rosch15 Go to original post
explore the map, loot and NPC locations, of course with less reward etc.
For me the Survival was just a pain. Started, did a bit of progress, died from cold, started again, explored the map a bit more, died again from NPC, repeated, was killed by a hunter.
I extracted only once and after that not playing Survival anymore.
I understand what you mean. It can be discouraging, if it is too hard. Survival was really not easy at first, I know. But I saw a bit of a progress with each match I played. With each match, I learned a bit more and got closer to extraction. It was sometimes frustrating, but also challenging. It is too long ago to remember how often I got killed by the hunter in the end, but at least ten times. There were no hunters in UG or legendaries at that time and I was overwhelmed by the skills of this NPC. I finally made it and it was a good feeling. I am sorry, that it did not have this effect on you and I hope you will give Survival a second chance. It can be really fun.
The concept of Survival sounds neat, but as others have pointed out, it's basically a mini-game. Mini games are usually short and fun and don't leave you feeling like you wasted your time, no matter how they end. That doesn't really fit with what Survival is.
Playing Survival doesn't advance my character. In the same amount of time I spend in there, I could be playing the regular game and improving my gear.
The rewards for playing Survival are abysmal, nobody is going to play it for the rewards.
Every run in Survival is a fresh start, and when you die you are done, unless playing with a team that will revive you.
The PvE version removes the risk of being shot by other players, but you are still playing versus the other people in the match. This guarantees that there will always be people who leave a Survival match unhappy.
Honestly, the 2-4% number sounds about right. Plenty of people buy the Season Pass, because The Underground sounds cool, and Last Stand beats the Dark Zone any day. Some may buy it for Survival, and some may really enjoy it, but I'd be amazed if even 50% of the people who own it have ever played it.
The rewards are underwhelming regardless but especially if you dont get the extraction out. If you clear a bunch of DZ landmarks then you are walking out of there with 7 or 8 survival caches which all have 4 items with a chance for 5 then its not so bad but still doesnt compare as i could get that amount of loot in 30 minutes in the DZ. Ive always liked it though but it is a big time investment to start it off, when i was playing i would usually play it once or twice a week just to get the Weekly cache and exotic. Im guessing my extraction rate is about 80% though so i never got too mad at it by spending an hour an half and then getting killed with little to no reward.Originally Posted by thepingguy Go to original post
