Before I start, I know I can equip the Helmeted/Masked faces but still doesn't change the fact that the way they portray these Characters will influence how everyone sees them. (/Immersion)
Nobushi (backstory/character) was supposed to be an Old wanderer, Defender of Villages and Common Folk as well as a Ghostlike Protector. Now she is shown as 20 and depicted as she is in the MainForces/Military?It already seemed that her Awesome Current voice was going to be changed to an Anime-like one in Marching Fire.
Peacekeeper looks Too Clean and like she is a Model. Some of the fancy hairstyles are a bit much if you gonna' be dodgin' and rollin' n' the like. I mean at the Core it's fine how she looks, but they should really just make her look more Cold/Serious to fit her whole silent ruthless killer vibe.
Overall I don't mind the idea of face reveals for the heroes, but these are just showing them as different characters. One other thing is why did they only do these two if their plan is to eventually show the faces of everyone? They did a little with Warden, Shugoki, and Conqueror but only eyes mainly. I am now just wondering if there will be some big change to Valkyries character if the trend stays the same as the last two.
As for why I care (as someone will likely ask), I think that All of the Game's Characters are Unique n' Interesting. They also have the effect of almost feeling Real. Which was one of my main draws to the game to begin with. I just don't want it to slowly turn into an Overwatch or League of Legends, there are already plenty of those types of games out there.
Thanks for Readin', Have a Goodun'
(Hey, so I posted this on Reddit, but didn't have high hopes on it gettin' any attention, as I mainly want Devs to see it)
I don't remember the part where they said nobushis are old. They are an order that protects samurai villages out of the military's reach. The only strange part is that they implied that they have to keep their identity secret, but a face alone won't tell who they are. Momiji from the campaign also sounds very childish, not even 20.
While Mercy is portrayed as a ruhless killer, I always thought it's because her being influenced by Apollyon, not because peacekeepers are like that in general. I always thought their role is very similar to the nobushis': keeping those territories safe that are too far for the main force to protect. Her face fits that.
DISCLAIMER: What I am about to say is what I remember from story mode, character trailers, and from a specific warriors den where a writer gave some extra details on lore. I may be remembering things wrong.
Actually, Peacekeepers are somewhat like Nobushis, in that that they protect "their people" in a sense, but in a very different way. Nobushi stays in the village and protects it. Peacekeepers order is more complex. During the time of peace they perform assassinations in order to avoid further conflict, and by extension, war (hence the name Peacekeeper). During war, other then fighting from the shadows, they have another role. Ari, former For Honor writer who worked on the characters said on warriors den, that they go around the battlefield killing any soldiers (friend and foe) that are too wounded to be saved, a Coup de Grace, or mercy kill, she called it. (Also probably why the peacekeeper from the campaign was called Mercy). Another thing she noted was that going around and killing your enemies as well as your comrades leaves a mental scar over time, and that Mercy was practically a highly functioning psycopath. It is possible that other Peacekeepers have also developed a lack of empathy to some extent for that reason as well.
