Youtubers posting builds and giving advice (often leading to unwanted metas and no build diversity) are part of the games downfall in pvp.
All that Youtuber build videos and advice do is speed up the meta reaching an equilibrium.
Without Youtube, in time players will still start using the same few strongest builds.

Youtubers don't cause a meta. The meta is created by the developers who balance the game.
It's partly why they started using the PTS, to test balance.

Watched the video and I could totally relate and understand what he meant. There was more sadness than anything else in his words. Dun understand why there is so much hate towards him and the other YouTubers.

It did sound like he was on the verge of tears. I do think he is quite lame for using the excuse he is using to quit though, i say that because PVP in the Division has never been very good and yet he loved it because he could chicken dance out of any situation but now that he cant simply shake his mouse and melt you and your team down he isnt having fun anymore. You know what would be good against nomads and d3's? Skill builds but if i remember right he had a good say in seeing those get turned into marshmallow sets so i have no tissue to offer him for his tears.

First off, the current DZ isn't great or fun. Just having a little bit of build diversity doesn't mean the game play is fun and exciting and its great for the game. Running into Nomad/Pred or D3 players and fighting them isn't fun or exciting game play. An entire server waiting for someone to go rogue isn't fun game play. Honestly all I see are these 3 builds and its annoying having to fight them, especially Nomad and Pred. I do agree that He actually supported a lot of the ideas that lead to the current state the game is in. I dun always agree with him but will be always grateful to him for helping me to better understand the game and how to be better.

I do understand his frustration, I felt that way after every build I made got nerfed and nerfed again. I could not even win a 1v1 kinda bad. What he is saying is the game is awful because he can't win a 1v3 and needs to group. I doubt the game was ever intended for that anyway. What is he going to do when the Div 2 comes out because by all looks so far his play style is exactly what they are trying to kill.

I have some sympathy as the striker players are still lost without their go to build. Its annoying when you've thrown a lot of time into making the perfect build for you.

However that meta promoted by marco allowed everyone who wasnt self involved in it to create some really strong and well balanced builds and was a contributor that led to the current state of affairs of players using their go to builds on the back of the striker meta which were nomad, d3 and pred mainly.

It has however allowed a few more builds to enter the fray, i see a lot more tacticians now, reclaimers, final measures, banshees, deadeyes, lone stars, these builds were a rare thing on the xbox prior to 1.8.3. But theres a lot more variety kicking about now.

Funny how these youtubers are no longer plastering the place with the god rolled builds and taking on an entire team and winning. Its a team based game, get a balanced team and go against others. I watched the video of his whinging, as soon as it wasnt going his way any more hes gone. His ego has definitely taken a huge hit now he will need a team to be successful.

1.8 & Classifieds was a large step in the wrong direction and 1.8.3 is yet again an example of how a developer doesn't know the concept of "middle ground" when nerfing/buffing. To me 1.6 / 1.7 was still one of the best era's of the game. All they had to do imo after 1.6 was overhauling how the skills (seeker, sticky, ...) worked instead of flat out nerfing them: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...wer-and-Skills

The reason he (and others) plays solo, is because when he teams up, he'll be invincible. It's way too easy to stomp an entire server, until you run out of bullets, and do it all over again.

I'm not a fan of YouTubers in general, as mentioned here they accelerate the meta and encourage identikit builds. That said MarcoStyles is one of the more astute players of the game who undoubtedly has uncovered bugs that would not have been discovered without his insight. If Massive listened to him more (armour bar?) then the game may be in a better state than it currently is.

People say he abused glitches to his advantage but one could argue that he used the unintentional mechanics to his advantage, all these things were available to any other player.
