I have to disagree with you guys. I mean how is this worse than everyone running striker. I see almost every gear set in PVP now, and most of them are pretty good. If you are bored with it I don't know what to tell you. I run a 5pc AB with a non-meta weapon and do very well.... and I never used AB. I run Pred, D3, deadeye, Tac in FA, Tac in SP, same with firecrest, I also have a reclaimer build and two lonestar builds. I also see a good amount of final measure, banshee, and even a few hunter's faith builds. Getting rid of a little cheese has made the game much better. If you think that the only way to play is the only way you play then I am sorry. I like the fact that the raging try hards are leaving because they can't just drop and pop. I love that new builds right now are not all over youtube for every wannabe to exploit. If you did not bother to learn to build that is your fault. I am getting double/triple teamed and still winning some times. How is this current iteration worse than before. because they removed that no skill drop box cheese, or because the striker crutch was removed?
I agree that it's a lot better.Originally Posted by MutantCowboy x Go to original post

I just find it annoying that the people who talk about skill in the Division only refer to it when it comes to being a face tanker. A sniper needs skill to know when to run and best places to be for any given fight, they are a sniper after all why would they play to your advantage? Skill builds need to know when best to pop heals or time turrets to stop rushes or down players with a sticky. Mixed builds need to be patient and lure face huggers into false security and not just face tank because he will call me a scrub if i move away. Who cares what another player thinks of your play style.
Not sure I agree (with your interpretation in the first sentence), though I do concur with your answer.Originally Posted by MutantCowboy x Go to original post
When I see or hear players talk about "skill" they are usually referring to the 1-dimensional view of doing the chicken dance, or any similar ability to dodge, duck and swerve. The whole point of an RPG-type game like TCTD is that you can rely only on that, or sniping, or a tactical advantage, or configuring your build around your specific skills or weaknesses, etc. ALL of these things qualify as "skills" in the game, albeit using different approaches, which is why I think it's a totally bogus excuse when they say "Build xxx is for noobs with no skills" or the like.
I hear that a LOT as I have an insta-melt Nomad build I use for DZ farming, and it gets pretty dull it's repeated so often (any time they start something and I win). I always respond with a quip along the lines of "Unless you had no armor or skills configured and tried to melee only your complaint is baseless. You had a gear set with talents and buffs, mods, weapons, etc. and so did I. Just because my configuration played to my strengths better than yours played to your strengths is no reason to whine."
Build diversity isn't the issue of 1.8.3, it's the TTK.Originally Posted by MutantCowboy x Go to original post
And frankly TTK has almost always been an issue in PvP.
Every meta has always been DPS while retaining toughness/sustain: Uncomplicated, Adept Stacking, 1.1 Sentry, Hexotic, Striker, DeadEye, Seekers & Sticky 1 shots, ...
The one glaring issue in PvP keeps cropping up: we want to do damage, we don't deal enough damage.
Having a lower, more sensible (it doesn't have to be as low as BF / CoD / CS though) TTK could lead to more build diversity as well in the long run. If you can drop a player in 20 shots (which is 4 times the TTK of the aforementioned FPS titles), 10% more damage suddenly starts to matter a lot less. With a lower TTK, tactics and utility can come more to the forefront.
The Division Meta has indirectly always been the same, it's always the same question you ask yourself and then build around:
"How do I get as much survivability as possible while sacrificing as little DPS as possible?"
The same applies to weapons:
An LVOA/LW M4 is the best (excluding the house). Yet when with a lower TTK the difference would've been 1 or 2 bullets between an LVOA or G36... that's when you start considering: "Maybe I should go for the G36 and simply land more shots with its stability?"
And last but not least is also how the TTK and sustain turned a cover based RPG shooter into a RPG dance dance revolution fest.
Fair enough, but I would say that this last patch did help reduce TTK in a pretty big way. Like i said it killed the drop and pop. It removed the easy striker stacks, and allowed other sets to take it's place. By far and large the amount of stamina running around now is a lot less. I know D3 is actually being used now and everyone thinks it is ruining the DZ, but I have found that a good sticky will one shot that shield and it will take about 30 seconds for them to get it back. Yes Nomad is a grief set... but it is not very common to have 12 solo nomads running the DZ griefing, and in team play it is tanky but only for a limited time.Originally Posted by Corrupt_be Go to original post
The weapon I use drops players pretty quick, just yesterday I took out a sniper in skirmish in about 10 shots. It is not often that I face trade and fail to kill something, other than nomad, in less than 30 rounds. With a full clip I have even dropped 3 players from behind. Even my sticky bomb is doing some work with the lower stamina builds now. I am dropping snipers in one blast, and even getting double kills if i time things right. Sniper builds are also doing some pretty beefy damage too.
If you want to have the TTK even lower it would mean one shot snipers and one shot sticky bombs. For those builds to align like they would in a game like fortnight or COD. It would just not be fair to drop them in a second if they are not able to return the favor right? Some times i get dropped before I can even detonate the sticky. Does not seem like a TTK issue there.
I would agree the medkit spamming has gotten out of control, and having 5 of them does not help. "I died because i ran out of ammo, give me more" "I died because I ran out of medkits, give me more". For the RPG mechanics I would say the game is in a much better spot, yes it still needs some tweaks to absurd group heals. Yes, revives are much to easy in PVP, and yes their should be real punishment to being downed. Like only being able to have 1/3 health for 20 seconds after being revived.
I am not claiming 1.8.3 is perfect but it is a large step in the right direction. It really seems like people relied on one set way to much. I would honestly say it is less about TTK and more about not being able to exploit the most OP set against players like me who flatly refuse to play the Meta. You think TTK is bad because they killed striker stacks, which actually healed you as you ran around in circles....inside a reclaimer box that also healed you. Imagine how it was for the people who bravely fought against it without allowing themselves to sink to that level.
The Division is an unfinished product and I bet you that the next installment TD2 will be no different. 1.8 and the classified gearsets are massive biggest mistake. Having a gearset doing the job is just so dumb. 1.8.3 did not bring build diversity, it just took striker down to promote the rise of Pred, Nomad and D3. Hexo builds dont even stand a chance at all. The only diversity would be to raise the armor cap of HE and Exo gears to 1401 just like the classified.
I wish the devs can sit down and look at the state of this game from day one till now, from patches to patches and say for themselves *whaouuu we have really broken this game that bad.
D3 6th piece bonus: Deploy your shield, hide behind it and shoot - 0 skill
Pred 6th piece bonus: hit your target with 10 bullets and run in circle around him while the bleed ticks finishes your opponent off
Nomad 6th piece bonus: RNG, RNG, RNG with cat lives.
This game is a total garbage.
What is amazing is that people pre-order the TD2 ultimate edition. Just dont complain later

The chicken dancer quit? Good. His builds were good but lost me when he cried about PVP Striker nerf and wanted PVE builds nerfed as well. I just hope he doesn't come back to TD2 because it was him and his ilk Youtubers that ruined PVE. Except for 21Kilo. That guy tells it how it is.
