I probably ran firecrest more than any other set, i used it for everything. PVP-PVE, everything. Then the classified set came out along with the unneeded turret nerfs and i had to give up on it. Useless in the DZ, turret health sucked for PVE and its pretty much sat in the stash since, brought it out every now and then to troll some people in the DZ but thats about it. I waited and waited on the classifeid to come out only for them to nerf them the second it did. Its still functional and fun for PVE but as i mostly play solo the weaker turrets did the build in for me.

I am about to abandon the idea anyway. I don't know what kind of RNG this game uses, but 13 Firecrest caches in a row and all I've received is 8 holsters and 5 masks. Nothing else!

Was just hoping to get one set of knee pads, but if I am supposed to do 60 caches to get there...well I don't want the set that badly.

What other reason is there for playing now, if not for lulz? FC can be huge fun... non-stop fiery explosions and screaming NPCs. What's not to love? You'll never speed-run Lexington, but you'll always finish with a grin on your face. :-D

It's also important to understand what firearms scaling is and how that effects your damage. Oddly enough the MDR has a really high firearms scaling. Translation; low firearms builds are a poor way to run the MDR. Funny enough low Firearms (Electronics stacked) is not the best way to run Firecrest even though the 6 PC makes it look that way. At least with the MDR. I run 7.5k Firearms 4k Stam 4.7k Elec for my Firecrest build. Competent / Determined on the MDR and Dragons breath turret, and Flashbang sticky for skills. It's a great way to play FC. Really wish the 6pc FC bonus gave flash sticky a fire effect instead of the explosion. It would be awesome.

See this for info. Google Division firearms scaling for the spreadsheet if you want to calculate the scaling for individual weapons.

That might be fine for PvP under certain circumstances but I would still advise against your suggestion. Just because lower Firearms isn't optimal for the MDR doesn't mean it's wrong for Firecrest. MDR is still the best gun you can use and the point of firecrest is NOT to be the main dps of the party. You are the CC role, and the set just helps makes sure you can still contribute decent damage will keeping the group from being overwhelmed. Personally I'm finding about 8k Electronics to be plenty, as going for 10 would lock me out of certain talents and generally leave me a bit weaker than I'm comfortable with vs having that last 25% duration buff.

I agree completely, and that was my sole intent. I already have optimized PvP sets (Striker, Pred and Nomad) plus several optimized PvE sets, so at this point it's just about getting something for a little extra fun, or maybe to try a different angle.

Funny (but true) story: I set myself to get TWO more FC caches, and that would be it. I am getting tired of plowing through Lex over and over, after all. If I didn't get the 6th piece I would quit trying.

So I run enough for 6k GE credits, open up the caches, and again, same crap that I got 10 of already. I figure I am done, Classified Firecrest wasn't that important after all. So I just set about cleaning out all the stuff I collected from my inventory and opening one of the Field Proficiency caches what do I see? A Bonus Item of Classified Firecrest kneepads! Go figure!

Here's the bizzarre part: when I completed my Classy Nomad last month it was a similar thing. I could NOT get the darn last missing piece, but while grinding that GE I also managed to complete the Avenger shield, and when I opened that there was the one missing piece.

Are we sure this game runs on pure RNG, and that there isn't some inventory scanning going on behind the scenes?

Forgot to mention: I don't think I have EVER gotten a Classified piece out of a Field Proficiency cache before...ever. So that makes this more suspicious.

RNGesus rewarded you for your perseverance. Either that, or it sensed you weren't going to take any more useless sh*t and that further torture was pointless. Either way, heartfelt congrats. :-)

I find bonuses in FP caches rarely, but when they drop it's invariably a Classified item or an Exotic. They do (IME) also seem more likely to drop during GEs, but then I have also had THREE Golden Rhinos drop in a single LZ boss run so RNGesus may just like messing with my head.
