When in Ghost mode get rid of the over all ammo count and go with a magazine count instead. Having it read 150 rounds no matter if I have a 20 round mag or a 50 round mag doesn't make any sense. The + a percentage of ammo skill upgrade should be a + one mag upgrade.
For starting ammo I would purpose having 4 mags + one loaded for Rifle's, SMG's, Snipers, and shotguns with mags; 2 + 1 loaded for Light MG's. For shotguns that single load having the ammo count might have to be the way to go, as they don't have any type of mag. For them I would still suggest up'ing the ammo count by one tube each upgrade level.
This would get rid of the strange idea that you carry the same amount of ammo whether its in (3) 50 count mags or (7.5) 20 counts mags. I would also like to see this in "normal" mode. The total rounds amount is and has always been a bad way to convey ammo amounts when using mags. These aren't single load rolling block rifles.

Another problem is that the upgrades for the ammo count are percentage based, meaning you get a mismatched amount of ammo for certain weapons. So, 338 rounds total for SMG's - that's 10 mags (assuming we're using 30 round mags) + 8 rounds in an 11th mag. Even worse if using 20 round mags, it equates to 16.5 mags + 8 rounds in a 17th mag.
This all makes sense, but why is ammo capacity even a skill? Ridiculous! Why are ammo boxes with every type of cartridge available everywhere? Crazy! Why does it reload your gun with a full mag without delay when you dip your hand into an ammo box? Unrealistic!
But hey, the bottom line is that games are all a compromise between reality and abstraction for convenience. You don’t need to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom, or change your underwear in the moddle of a gun fight, and your ammo capacity is not an exact mag multiple. It’s just a game.
I rocked the MK 14 in GM up to tier 28, everything completed.
I decided to get the 416 for the grind so have been using that since & now tier 13.
What I’ve found amusing is looking in the corner & seeing maxed ammo count “225”.
Guess the quartermaster doesn’t issue rounds as whole numbers :/
The only time you ever got a odd amount of ammo was if you were picking up lose rounds.

It is a game, but why not make it a better one? I think having your total ammo linked to your mag size would make it better. Personally I would rather read 5 mags instead 250 rounds. That would also make the mag size upgrades a lot more valuable, as there isn't much reason to use the lager mags other than less reloading. To balance it all out they could make lager mags effect handling and accuracy, so its not just a direct bonus to have bigger mags.
