Ubi-Johan discusses the Anti-Cheat questionand ends it in an abrupt way

So in the discussion https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...Thoughts/page2 Ubi Johan closes yet another thread asking about anit-cheat methods for TD2

The reason he gives for closing the thread is due to toxicity and rule violations.

Are you kidding me. Nobody in the discussion was toxic and i would love to know what rules were broken.

Unfortunately this is more likely due to not wanting to answer the hard questions and not wanting to keep the post open for more comments.
    .
Day by day i am losing faith in Massive and TD2.

Completely agree, I saw no toxicity or a reason to cite forum rule breaks but what are you gonna do, it's their site and looks like they want to censure the anti-cheat topic. That's not a positive sign!

Havent seen the thread but posting about another thread........!? When they (commods) obviously cant discuss it. Any sort of confirmed information will come from Ubi - marketing and the directors of the game. Anything else will either be unconfirmed leaks or just wishful thinking. Honestly guys dont read anything into it. I doubt very much you will get anything "new" from the community developers except repeating what is officially announced from senior sources at ubi/massive, after its actually been announced.

I can understand to a certain degree why he closed the thread, since it was full of reproaches - whether justified or not. Above that, I think, he is just not allowed to discuss these things further. However, I had to smile when I read the reason toxicity. Nobody was "toxic", imo. Ok, the posts were not exactly pleasant, but that's the nature of criticism. On the other hand, I think all discussions about this subject are idle anyway at this point. We will see the result in March.

If he's not allowed to "discuss these things" then why "discuss these things"?

Do you think the rule was "don't discuss anti-cheat as we don't have anything worked out yet"?

Maybe we can now ask him who was toxic and what rules were broken. He probably can't discuss that either.

Can't even have a reasonable discussion without it being shut down. My guess is they'll shut this down next instead of answering the questions we all have. Shame really

Indeed its not a positive sign. However what is more concerning is how evasive Massive is when it comes to discussing things. Its a AAA games company not National Security but everything is so guarded and shrouded behind half-baked comments and secrecy.

I get that the discussion may not be comfortable for them and they are only community managers and not developers. But they are our link. Open honest feedback goes a long way to promoting and developing a game.

I doubt we will get Yohan clarifying who was toxic or what the rule violations were and we certainly won't get a backtrack on closing the thread. At the end of it its not even Yohan's fault he's gotta tow the company line but that can still be done is an open manner.

Yes we have development blogs coming out soon but i would imagine if they are to have any TD2 information it will be about all the shiny new toys the game will have not the mechanics information we want. Think of it like buying a car the dealers are great to point out the cool features while total ignoring the downside to the car, Massive/Ubisoft are no different they want the sales before the downsides are made aware.

I don't expect anything to change just from my opinion.

Lack of communication from Massive to the community has been very poor at best since the launch of the game.

It's why I lurk around Amper's stream waiting for Terry to show up :P
Terry is the best person to ask questions and get answers about choices and changes.

Yes, I think so. But even if they had an anti-cheat already, I doubt that Ubi would reveal details about it. Transparency is not the strength of this company, I fear. Whether this policy is necessary or not, I don't know. Does it really help to impede cheating? In my view, it has not so far. It is sad, but we cannot change it, I don't preorder TD 2 now and wait for the first reviews or, at least, for zhe results of the beta test.

Keep in mind that the thread was already heavily moderated and some of the more toxic messages are no longer visible.

There are other threads on the same topic open on the forum where you can continue the discussion, but any thread that turns hostile and toxic will be locked.

Closing thread as OP's topic has been addressed. Feel free to PM me if you want to continue this discussion.
