Mystic has always been a tanky survival based theme that focuses on keeping units alive. The main way to counter mystic has always been bursting down weaker units and punishing mystic players when a unit is poorly placed. Unfortunately these two counters are now far more difficult due to a few factors, mostly related to increased health pools which has a strong synergy with mystic healing that was likely over looked.
Most assassins that were in use prior to the recent balance change were an essential counter to the mystic theme. Most of these cards were common cards and after tuning are hardly effective at bursting fighters and tankier cards.
Mystic common cards were strong for their effects, not their stats. Friar Jimmy and angel wendy in particular are actually more effective now than they were before. With increased health pools these cards are more valuable post patch. Something that can not be said about any other common cards.
Perhaps this point is entirely in my head but I do not think so. One of the main ways I would deal with zen cartman would be to push in another area and avoid him. I am noticing that units seem to be locking onto each other from greater ranges. In the past units would ignore zen when placed at the top or bottom when he is centered. This does not seem to be so any more.
Pope Timmy recently received a nice buff before this last patch. Pre patch he was in a decent place. Post patch he is likely over tuned with his synergy with certain cards. MBP for 6 energy onto of a potent range attack unit, randy cards are very difficult to burst down now and them being revived is absurdly difficult to counter.
It is also worth noting that regen was previously identified as a problem card and was nerfed for good cause. This nerf was reversed at a time when the card was on track to be more effective than ever without the buff to its potency as the health pool increases alone were a massive boon to the card.

We have just finished a round of balancing for our next update, so it's possible they've got Mystic on their list for a look soon. I'm not on that team, so I don't know for sure, but we can pass the request on in case it's not on their radar. It's always good for them to know what's on the minds of the players!
It's to the point where I just quit a match if someone tosses out mystics. Impossible to beat and no strategy required. Play a level 4 SNR, either Regen or pope Timmy if he gets taken out, then Hallelujah. Something gets in the way? One shot it with UC no matter how many HP it has. Stupidly OP and unbalanced.
