I got this game from steam but I cannot connect it to steam when I try to launch this game. It says Ownership cannot be found every time I try to open the game.

The account you are using here on the forums does not own For Honor. It is also not linked to your Steam. You need to log out of Steam and Uplay, log into the Uplay account that owns For Honor, and then start For Honor from your Steam library.

The problem about that is I got the game through my steam account, not ubisoft's webpage. So I have no other choice but to go through my steam account

What Gabbin is mentioning is that it's likely you first played the game on a different Uplay account. So you'll have launched it on Steam, and then logged into a Uplay account as this is required to play.
