    Tiandi Feedback & Tweak Suggestions

Tiandi is very appealing. I like his style and overall design. He is another strong character with a wealth of depth. He’s well balanced and has a good range of offense and defense, great flexibility, and great mix-up potential. However, the changes I would suggest are the following:

    1)
    Speed Nerf Light Attacks

I’ve never been a fan of 400ms light attacks since light spam continues to be an issue, especially with the assassins like the Orochi. They are impossible to defend against on reaction and I even found myself relying on them as I was trying to get to grips with Tiandi during the open test.

Even though Tiandi’s attack chains are only 2-hits, I would rather reduce his 400ms light attacks to 500ms in exchange for 3-hit attack chains or the next suggestion below.

    2)
    Following Chain Finishers

2a) Allow Tiandi to follow his Light Finishers with the following:

    • Palm Strike
    • Palm Strike Combo
    • Heavy Palm Strike

2b) Also, allow Tiandi to follow his Heavy Finishers with a Dragon Kick if he can’t do it already. Sorry, I forgot to test this.

    3) Sprint Attack changes

    • Make the Sprint Attack a chain starter.
    • Allow the Sprint Attack to be followed by a Dragon Kick.

    4)
    Stamina Cost for Dodge

Reduce the stamina cost for his dodge attacks and cancels by at least 50% to allow him to use his Extended Dodge ability without the risk being out of stamina afterwards.

    5)
    I-Frame Buff/Fix for Dodge/Dodge Attacks

Like a lot of Tiandi players, I’ve found that Tiandi is pretty easy to hit while he is dodging or doing a dodge attack, especially with his Dragon Dodge. If this is a bug then it needs to be fixed or the I-frames needs to be increased to make the dodge more viable, otherwise, the move will be reduced to read and gamble situations only instead of reaction and close timing.

    6)
    Dragon Kick Parry Punish

Allow Tiandi to use his Dragon Kick as a parry punish. This would be good for creating space especially when faced with multiple opponents.

    Final Thoughts

Tiandi is an excellent character overall. I feel he needs a few tweaks but he’s still strong. I look forward to playing with him in the future, however, Jiang Jun is my first choice from the Wu Lin faction while Tiandi will be my second. It will take me a good while to master him but I will have fun doing it.

If there are any oversights in this post I do apologise but I try to be thorough. Thank you for reading.

Below is a video of me using Tiandi in Breach. No expert performance here I’m afraid.

If they nerf his lights then they need to nerf the top light for Shaolin and Orochi, I doubt any of those happens though. I do want to see them either fix the dodge iframes or admit they nerfed it.

I think the top lights are 500ms, well for the Orochi at least. Nerfs need to be done by each rework and not on a broad scale, otherwise, other balancing issues will arise. You have to look at the characters kit as a whole. If you nerf one of the character's tool you normally need to replace it with something else to keep the hero viable. Only very OP moves need to be nerfed without adjustments made elsewhere.

As for nerfing Tiandi's light attacks to 500ms, I did suggest giving him 3 hit chain attacks or allowing him to follow his chain finishers with any palm strike combo as a replacement. That way more mixups would keep him as viable.
