[PC] Poor performance even in menu + black screen on tracks

First of all the game is running very poorly, and is stuttering even in the menu. It gets a little better when I lower the resolution, but it's still bad.

Secondly the screen is all black, except for the interface, when I'm on a track. I tried several. I can still accelerate and brake (sounds). This was not an issue in the technical test.

For the black screen, its a known bug, you have to adjust the in-game brightness !

Hey IngusPingus! Did you try what FR_Dam143 suggested (thank you ) for the brightness? Did you try deleting your save data for the menu issue? Let me know!

I uninstalled the game and deleted the save files both from the uplay folder and the user\documents-folder before I installed it again. It now asked me about the brightness (default - 50) when I entered the game, and the tracks were fine in that aspect. However, the game was still running very unsmooth, even with the lowest graphical settings and the lowest resolution, just like in the technical test. So I have given up the beta and uninstalled the game again, seeing as I went through all the tracks on gold + contracts with the same stuttering in the technical test, and don't feel the need to do that again. I hope this is just a result of an unfinished game, and that it will not be this demanding when fully released.

If you were also in the Technical Test and are having issues please follow these steps.

What kind of system specs do you have, IngusPingus?

    Thanks

    MSI GE72 6QF Apache Pro

    Intel core i7-6700HQ
    GTX 970M 3GB
    8GB RAM

Running graphics-heavy games like The Witcher 3, Dishonored 2, Arkham Knight, The Evil Within 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider and GTA V on generally high settings with 60 fps for the most part (never below 30).

It's fully understandable if it's just a temporary issue because the game is in beta, but it's really special if the full game will be this demanding. Like I mentioned, the stuttering is even overwhelming on the lowest settings.

It sounds like you're using a laptop that uses Nvidia Optimus to combine a low-power but slow Intel GPU for normal use with a fast but less energy-efficient Nvidia GPU for games. You can override the automatic GPU selection to use your GTX 970M as follows:

Open Nvidia Control Panel (e.g. by right-clicking the desktop) and in the Program Settings tab, Add trialsworldtour.exe and select High-performance NVIDIA processor and change Power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. Apply the changes.

Thank you, I might look into it before the beta ends. But I have never needed to do this with any other game, so is this something that for some reason only effected Trials Rising, or would I potentially be able to squeeze more out of all the other games I mentioned if did same with them? Do you actually think that Trials Rising will have (this much) higher system requirements than all these other graphic-heavy games I mentioned in the previous post?
