Story: After a few months hiatus I've returned to the game. I have one character that I played with the most who is a fairly high rep (for the time that I played) and I had almost all the gear that was Epic or below unlocked. I was messing around the other day and scrapped all the stuff that I used to save just for the visuals and went to change the visuals of something after and it's all showing as unlocked. I put in a support and after a few days of too and fro's they said that everything I got before Dec 2017 will not be unlocked for me anymore.
Wait what? I put all that time in and it's just gone? I even had to show them game clips and screen caps of me wearing the gear and it's still just gone.
Question: Will I ever get that gear (common to epic) back now that I'm in legendary tier levels? Some of those visuals I really loved to put on every so often and I'd hate it if it's just gone forever especially since I'm back committed to the game.
Did this happen to anyone else?

You unlocked the pieces themselves, and the pieces were not deleted during the new visual collection update. Before the new update you would need to have a specific item in your inventory to use it. For those items that were not added to the new visual collection pool that remained true, so when those items were scrapped you lost access to them.
