    My opinion on the (in progress) voice work

    So, I took some time to analyze the new voice changes on the Breach test. I primarily focused on some of the Viking heroes and went through all of the executions and emotes, including both of the genders if there were two available.

    For the Vikings it's not as bad as some would make it out to be. A lot of the content is actually really good with some minor snags here and there. My main gripe is the Responsive Dialog System (RDS) which I think is very unpolished at the moment.

    The Writing
    As long as I can turn off the Responsive Dialog System (RDS) I'm fine with it. The English just kills the whole character immersion for me. I'm not even going to begin touching the quality of the dialogues in the RDS, what I have heard have been abysmal at best. I do however acknowledge that writing this kind of dialogue is kind of tricky. The line between cringy and over the top is kind of thin. Coming from someone who is a big movie nerd and has seen over 2000 movies. I think I can spot bad dialogue pretty well. Yeah, sorry I had to drop that. I think the Responsive Dialog System (RDS) has far to go before it can be released.

    The recording execution and direction
    Some of the new voice work for the character move set isn't particularly well executed (Warden), but some of it is actually quite good (Highlander). The lady voice work for characters moves are in general better than the one I have experienced from the male versions of the cast.

    Hero Specific: Warlord
    I mainly like the new Warlord voice overs in the emotes and executions. The prime example of really good emote is the Warlord: Bang your drum "Koma så! Koma så! Koma så! Koo!!" Awesome!

    Many of the emotes have an additional laugh or grunt in the end making them slightly over produced, and in turn they lose a bit of how genuine they feel. Sometimes the actual sound isn't reciprocated in the animation of the character making it sound over the top.

    Warlord: Emote Shotgun! The laugh in the end of one of the version makes him sounds kind of mental. But maybe that's intended? The other version is great.
    Warlord: Emote Why me? After he gets up there is an additional small grunt in the end unrelated to any of the movements. I don't know if it's needed. Yeah, I know he's kinda stocky and unfit, but is he that unfit?
    Warlord: Emote Headbanger. Same as above. Unnecessary grunt in the end.
    Warlord: Execution Beat Down. Same as above. Unnecessary grunt in the end in one of the versions.
    Warlord: Execution Head Scissor. Same as above. Unnecessary grunt in the end in both of the versions.
    Warlord: Execution Shield Bash uppercut. Same as above. Unnecessary grunt in the end in both of the versions.

    I know this may sound picky, I do however think these small things make a big difference.

    Hero Specific: Berserker
    Berserker (lady): Emote Cheast Beat. "Byrjağu" Excellent.
    Berserker (lady): Emote Crossover. "şungur hnífur" ICONIC! All Vikings need an emote with this line. Warlord: Emote S'up? Would be so fitting to have it when he points his sword on the opponent.
    Berserker (lady): Emote Flipout. "Sástu şetta?" Formerly hidden and only for spectators I think. Nice that we can hear it now.
    Berserker: Emote Row Your Boat. I love the signal horn effect. It works on a meme emote.

    Hero Specific: Raider
    I wish he/she said more in Icelandic in the emotes. Lady Raider seems to have lost "Nei, nei, nei!" A part from this I think they are all pretty good. Executions included.

    Hero Specific: Highlander
    The new lines for the move set are good. I think it's good that he doesn't speak Icelandic when performing them any longer. I like that he sounds more Scottish.

    The executions and emotes sounds are generally not up to par yet. It's hard to say what's wrong really, more than that they sound over the top and he needs some cough drops.

    Post processing
    I don't like the "behind mask" sound effect the masked heroes have. I know it may be the "realistic way" it sounds, but I don't think it works that well in terms of sound esthetics. Maybe take it down a notch?

    In game logic
    Another thing I also like is that the "emote sounds discrepancy" (my question on the Warriors den four months back) seems to be fixed. There seems to be two sets of voice lines for emotes that you can hear no matter what. And they don't stack when two people execute them at the same time, with one of the different version being played back. I'm sad to see many of the Icelandic content lines go into the bin though. The ones you heard when someone else emoted standing beside you. "Glima" "Eru ekki allir i stuği" etc. Maybe coming back in some other form?

    One more thing I want to add about the RDS. Never let the heroes even mention the hero names ("Warden", "Raider", "Kensei") "Lawbringer. RAH!"

    Having them talk about the factions is also something that should be avoided. (Knights, Vikings, Samurai) etc. It just sounds shallow.

    Notice how none of these even mention the Hero or the faction. Suddenly, they add something.

    I have a question. Since the RDS was halted, does that also mean we don't get the new "emote sound logic" in Marching Fire? I'm talking about hearing the actual speech yourself, and not just your opponent hearing it.
