Please Ubi switch the 4v4 quickmatch to either Tribute or Deathmatch. Dominion rewards ganking and poor play. All of the other 4v4 modes are superior – Tribute is actually an objective mode and elimination at least discourages ganking (in my experience) through spawning everyone individually.
Revenge is also completely terrible, especially in 4v4. In dominion yesterday I was 1v1ing an Orochi on the C point. He had a silly latency so I could barely see his attacks, but I was still winning. He got revenge (I didn't) increasing his health and damage, which made survival difficult, but I still survived and kept winning, knocking him down to low health. He then ran away until his team mates showed up and could gank me. How is that a fun gameplay experience?
Revenge should be a massive health and speed boost, but should lower damage considerably. Having it charge at all in 1v1s should be totally removed. It should be a tool that allows a player to escape outnumbered engagements. Having players win 1v1s because their revenge charges after blocking a few attacks just ruins the experience for everyone.
With MF revenge builds are gone. Really the perk system is extremely weak in its affect on any gameplay. A prestige 1 player will pretty much be able to compete with a rep 60 player from the start. Which is fine, I'm sure experience will win out most of the time but that's it. Everyone will get revenge at the same rate as anyone else etc. I hope this makes it easier for the devs to balance things out. I assume this is why they are doing it because they make a hero based on no stats then they add in gear and it makes things go sideways.
I like the idea of getting rid of the gear stats BUT it does make character progression boring with perks compared to gear score. I like having a progression system that is engaging and the perks are so weak its kinda eh.. I get why they are doing it though. It will, I hope anyway make clear that some heros need nerfing like conq SB and HL 50/50 etc. No excuse not fixing those things now.
IMO Dominion doesn't totally suck, it just doesn't feel very "honorable". You either gank the other team, or they gank you. Sometimes when it's my team 2v1 a guy, I let my teammate have a go at it while I watch, which feels more ... right to do, but in reality I'm just feeding my pointless pride while hindering my team. At least in Deathmatch you receive penalties for 'dishonorable' fights.
On the other hand, I loved Inferno Dominion to death. Somewhat the same format, but when you want to gang up on people on an already contested point, you make a commitment with the HP you lose. Also no gear stat and feats. It sure isn't perfect, like there's a way to bypass the fire, but it seems like a good start. I understand many people wouldn't want IDominion to replace the vanilla one, I just wish that both are available so everyone can make a choice. I have yet to test Breach mode, but I hope it perfected the idea of "honorable fights" that many players long for.
Honor and Castle Sieges are not exactly a mix. The goal of the defenders needs to be deathballing the attackers to drain their tickets before they can breach the gates to get more. I'm not saying I approve of Deathballing, but the thing is that for defenders to win they need to get rid of the attacking team's tickets and there's no reason they should limit their efficiency in that regard.
I've played Breach mode. If you're playing as defenders, ganking is an efficient method of wearing the attackers down because the attackers have limited respawns so I'm afraid you're going to see at least just as much ganking in Breach as you do in Dominion.Originally Posted by Hanayuki1990 Go to original post
Hm ... maybe more bonus renown to people who go 1v2 or 1v3 whenever they pop a revenge? I know there are renown reductions for the gank team but I'm not sure what I've said have already been in place. It takes quite some attention to block effectively and gain revenge, let alone popping one, so it would be cool if your effort doesn't go to waste, and your unlocked feats won't fall very far behind the other teams'.
IMO Breach was worse, because of the revive the only viable thing to do as attacker is to gank and stay together. And obviously to defend, you have to gank as well. I didn't play it a lot though.
Personally I think Dominion should be closer to Infernal Dominion, no feats and gear (or severely nerfed), health recovery rate on zones should be either removed or significantly decreased at least, or have a cooldown or something. Like you can only recover 30% of your health in the zone and then have healing powerups close to the spawn location.
