Has anyone experienced a bug where you take out more than 50 enemy and the map won't complete?.
I had it happen in my Big Trouble Little China map back when the Vietnam assets dropped I used the Vietnam gang with the mars special effect got terrible ratings lol.
On that map I remember I play tested it twice and both times it wouldn't complete on the last kill but I had to go out so I published and the map completed in Arcade.
Now the bug is back a couple months later in my new TRASH map, this time I play tested in Editor and it wouldn't complete then hit publish and played it twice in arcade it wouldn't complete but at least I got to give myself a like ratingand can play it in photo mode.
Who the hell would dislike their own map, also 10 seconds is way too fast for the rating system sometimes I forget if I hit like or not on maps..we should be able to go back and edit our rating on other maps.
This has happened in maps on Far Cry 4 and on Far Cry 5, usually having any friendly A.I. who help to kill the enemies is a factor.
I have played quite a few maps where you kill either more than the number required or all of them and the map does not end so it isn't something you have done wrong.
Often with these maps there are occasions where they can be completed so do work sometimes but not every time, Just one of those things.
That makes sense both maps with the bug had over 10 friendly ai the Big Trouble map had a bunch of them for the alley gang fight for Jack Burton's truck lol.
i wonder if the friendly ai being set to respawn makes the editor treat all ai as constantly active?. Like it expects a new model to form but nothing is set on the enemy side.
I've played it and don't know what to say about it. :/Originally Posted by CoryTrevrSmokes Go to original post
This is the kind of map where i got the feeling like you put all your assets on the ground with a bunch of ennemies waves playing around,
The fact that your start on a baseball field is a good touch though, but seeing countless of melee guys running at you like headless chicken might be fun for others but not for me unfortunately.
I've played the maps you've mentioned on the other thread and it seems you like when there is a lot of action going on, with pnj and foes, making the atmosphere chaotic, and it could be entertaining at times, but not that much readable in certain situations.
Anyway, for Cooper Street, each wave was in a different location so it was cool for the diversity, but i had a strange sense of progression throughout the map which was mostly flat a part from the end, go here and there, here where we've got ten guys in a room apartment of 20m² and now here, for a bunch of heavy and flamethrower foes wandering around, all that make it felt a bit artificial during the journey.
One of the other problem is the lack of polish, all your maps looked a bit unfinished, and some part are lacking of details and the fact that they are all on the V1 state without much time between each build raise the question of investment throughout the process of map making.
So i really advise you to put your energy in one project, the one that you really care of, with several of your best ideas and try to make it more believable in its environernt, and planning to make a level design which involve more strategy, ennemies should take more cover, some of them need to protect something instead of standing in the middle of nowhere.
I saw that you have a very good favorite map which is DAWN AT TU VIEN CAO, take it as one of the best example you can brainstorm with if you want to achieve something memorable.
FlyingSpiritus, thanks I agree the best maps have less enemies, my favorite map would an L.A. Noire style map you just have a pistol and a few bullets in the shot gun against a few good bad guys.
My problem is I have taken Jacob Seed out every way imaginable so I haven't come up with the right enemies to make a good control zone layered map. The endless enemy running with their heads off like chickens comes from playing GTA 4 and 5 with infinite health and ammo fighting the GTA SWAT team like Terminator you get used to 20 guys shooting you while you take down the helicopters and armored vehicles.
Ilove your point about 10 dudes in a small room I was happy they stayed in the upstairs laundry room instead of chasing me and the wandering Heavy Gunners was to give the player a rest from riot mode before they move on to look at the scenery on the other side of the map.
I agree Clint Eastwood one man with a sniper rifle against 20 are more fun than Rambo with endless health against 70 in a basketball court lol.
With scripting out now in editor I think it will give me a chance to sit down and make a more professional game play map instead of just another cheat on riot mode action map.
Thanks for the play test, that's the biggest thing knowing what everyone wants.
If I turn on GTA 5 I've played it to death so using cheats would be first thing I do before finding a nice car and making everyone attack me. Then you have the MP style players in Arcade use to only a few guys on the map. It would be nice if we can leave each other messages in Arcade but it would probably end up as MP ragers messaging 1 star mappers to stop cluttering the front pages.![]()
How do I make a Vol2 of the map I had issues republishing when FC5 first came out and still don't know exactly what needs to be changed to republish.
If you make a nice terrain layout map with say Egypt assets on Assault mode and then decide to use the terrain for a second map using Cowboy assets do you have to change the game mode from assault to journey, outpost or bounty hunt?. I thought you do but what I have been doing is save as journey mode from assault then reset the loadouts and then save as again as assault mode it works fine. How do I publish Vol2 if I hit edit will it go to the first page in arcade so everyone sees the changes in Vol2 or will only your fans who know about Vol1 which is now on page 10 notice the changes if they happen to replay your map.
I get a theme idea and throw it out if it gets more than 3 stars I could edit it was the plan but the maps get lost on page 7 by day 3 I didn't know if anyone would notice, only the everyday play every map on arcade players noticed in the first place.
