It is terribly difficult, because in 95% boxes is the waste. You have weak weapons and weak gears. And people give you hundreds and hundreds of unnecessary little guns. Of the enemy it falls little and also weak. And every fight with named enemies - for better equipment - is a nightmare.
And, of course, you can not use the stash and saved equipment from other games.
Everything is a real fight, because you must not die. No recovery, no help. NOTHING. Just you.
    You win or die.
About 15 times they killed me. Twice in 29 lvl. Delete and try again.
It reminds me DLC Survival. Just harder. And without weapons production.
You offered the challenge, so I just had to ask!

Personally, I don't think I could of completed it.

I have started playing it. Made a new character, and decided to give it a shot.

Complete the entire story, plus side missions and encounters, without a single respawn. If I die, I am dead. Delete the character, start again. No fast travel and no changing or modifying your gear outside the safe houses or base of operations. If I find a piece of gear, or a new weapon, I can't just start blasting with it. I imagine I have to get to the gunsmith, check if the weapon works, clean it, lubricate it, etc. Just like in real life.

I am currently level 5, and I hope I will make it to level 30.

    My character died.

He died because I was stupid :-( I was playing a Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint at lv 7, and got killed by the last boss, Finch. He knocked me off with a sniper rifle.
I was arrogantly trying to get to a high ground by a long route, without even thinning out the swarm of enemies that was coming my way. I didn't even bother with a supressive fire before maneuvering. As a wise man once said, "Your sons died because they were stupid."

    R.I.P. agent D. Riley.

I hope the next agent I am activating will have more luck... This playthrough was really fun, honestly. Very tense, with lots of cover to cover movement and tactics. Is anyone else playing it, or is it just me?

Rest in Peace... I hope the next run goes better. I've been meaning to try this run myself, but haven't gotten around to it just yet.

You should give it a try as soon as possible, it's really fun. Every victory you achieve feels more significant, and every fight is more tense. You really connect with your character this way. I also come up with a name and a background for them, make sure they all wear different clothes, etc.
It's really fun. It should keep you busy until The Division 2 comes out.

Should every mission be done on the hardest available difficulty or am I going too far?

That is entirely up to you. I just go with the normal difficulty.

Hi Trey_Ichabod. You wrote it correctly: "Every victory you achieve is more significant, and every fight is more tense. You really connect with your character this way".
And buying weapons and gears would be too easy. I have 300 million from my 291 character and so I bought the best weapons and gears for 20 million and went like Rambo. In the second run I only bought for what I earned in the new game, but it was also easy.
Just that you can not buy anything is the challenge. And of course - do not die.
You only have what you find and get in the fight. And it is mostly weak and bad. And a hordes of enemies against you.
They killed me many times before I found out that the easy way did not exist. Every fight (mission, street, named elite) must be considered. Fight, avoid fighting or run away? You have to assume that before you kill those who stand in your way, another enemy may come to your back. And without cover, you're dead.
It is not good to hurry.
Once - you did not, and it probably will not reach second or fifth time, but maybe - once - you get that. Good luck.

Hi. I played it normal. For one run, I played hard missions to get better guns and gears, but it was beyond my ability. Or above the capabilities of found and collected equipment. In addition, it does not pay off. Too much risk for little.
For me, it was most important to survive the whole story while attaining tier 5 without death.
I do not know anyone who did it.
And until UBI makes a modification of Immortal Purist and will not give a super reward, I probably will not even know.
