People don't play it as it's intended because they don't have to in order to win. Infernal Dominion was what I believe regular Dominion should be. Boosting zones got +4 points per second with just one player boosting. I remember winning an Infernal Dominion match in 2 mins 50 odd seconds because my team split into two groups of two and held two zones. It took about 2 minutes for us to hit the 1000 point mark and another half a minute or so to kill the enemy team when they broke. That's what Dominion should be. The team that holds the zones is the team that wins but as it is now, the team that sticks together, running from zone to zone ganking the other team is usually the team that wins.
What are you talking about? If you don't take the objectives then you lose. Unlike whatever gametype you are talking about. Dominin actually takes strategy to win, something that 90% of players on here are too stupid to understand. And even if they are running as a team from one point to the other, they are still taking the objectives. While the other team stupidily runs headon up the middle looking for a fight. Or runs into a 4 v 1 fight and doesn't bother to run away. I've seen more matches loss because players are more focused on looking for a fight then actually taking the objective. As well as them not even working togeather. Don't know how many times I've seen a teammate run off on their own just to get jumped on.Originally Posted by DefiledDragon Go to original post
Hell I'm getting sick and tired of always being the only one who actually captures the objective to win. I mean, I'll have 10 objective capture while the rest of my team only has 1 or none. Meanwhile they will have like 1 kill and 7 deaths. No, people don't play it the way it was intented because they are too stupid to know how to play it.
That's bollocks. A 4 man deathball that runs between zones, capping and recapping them is the most successful way of playing regular dominion, which is why everybody does it. Also, namecalling? We can all do that you ****ing moronic ****.Originally Posted by Emothic Go to original post
So then wahts the problem. If a 4 mean deathball is taking the objectives and winning then whats the problem? If that's what it takes to win the match then, other should play like that.Originally Posted by DefiledDragon Go to original post
Name calling? Really I don't care. I'm not going to encourge the stupid. If someone charges into a 1 vs 4 fight, then complains about how unfair it is. Then they're stupid. If someone just sits in the b objective kill bots the whole match, while the enemy has A and C the whole time, having a score difference of 900 points. And then they talk sh- to the rest of their team for losing, then their stupid. I'm here to win the match, and to gain territory in the war map. Not to cater to someone else so they can have fun. If they want to have duels, then they need to go do Duel matchmaking or rank. Other then that, they are useless in dominion.
That's exactly what I said, which you disagreed with claiming that the mode required "tactics". The mode requires only one tactic. The Deathball. It's by far the most efficient way to win at regular Dominion. I'm not saying it shouldn't be that way, it all depends on what you feel Dominion should be about. Given that we already have skirmish mode it's a fair assumption that Dominion is supposed to be about capping and holding the objectives and it's not. You get way more renown for killing other heros than you do for holding zones and capping and recapping them is sufficient to win the day.Originally Posted by Emothic Go to original post
Infernal Dominion was a different kettle of fish altogether where holding the zones was actually the most effective tactic by far. That's what I would like regular Dominion to be about. It gives you options that regular Dominion currently does not.
Emothic,
Do you know what a Dominant Strategy is? It's a tried strategy that usually is the most effective and used in a game. In most cases, they hinder the game but may sometimes benefit a game. For example, Poker's is the use of bluffing. In this specific case it adds an additional layer of skill. In For Honor, deathballing is a Dominant Strategy. It imbalances a game based on fighting skills to "I'm not going to fight, I'll just get my teammates to jump you." It's the equivalent of 5 trained martial artists jumping an untrained child and saying they were being strategic. It's more about the principal and context of being jumped that matters.
It is stated that Dominion should be about teamwork, yet the only common form of teamwork relies on making 1v1/2v1 into a 4v1. If compared to other games that REVOLVE around teamwork, all 4v4 game modes in For Honor suck significantly. There have been numerous suggestions on how to improve the forced use of teamwork that did not revolve around the idea of outnumbering your opponent. A game about strategy and tactics, SHOULD NEVER have a Dominant Strategy. It hinders any type of balance of the game, especially if your foundation of gameplay is based around the idea of 1v1 probably 1v2.
