So, as you've probably guessed, this is a discussion abou the upcoming parry changes.
I'm not going to prolongue too much, so let's update you a little if you haven't read the Stream recap.
After the Parry Changes:
Guard Breaks won't be guaranteed after any parries.
Heavy parries will give a 600 ms window for attack (any light attack in the game is guaranteed).
Light parries will give a 900ms window for attck (most heavies confirmed).
So, as you can guess, this will make quite the difference. But how much really?
Below, you'll see every hero analysed to see how much he/she 'll be affected by the changes.
Knights
Warden: probably one of the least affected heroes. After a heavy parry, he'll be able to get a side light into Vortex mixups OR get a ultra-safe, almost heavy damage zone attack, while the light parry will give the usual top heavy.
Conqueror: confirmed light after heavy parry, confirmed heavy after light parry. Not really much going on.
PeaceKeeper: be happy, non-PeaceKeeper mains, your lungs will be safer! No more stomach stabbing after any parry! Just lightning speed light after heavy parry (or zone attack, if she has the stamina) and a heavy + bleed after light parry. Still, being an assassin gives her the advantage of deflecting, which means heavy attck damage as bleed, and can be done to heavies. More deflect value!
LawBringer: because LawDaddy loves parries and everyone loves LawDaddy, after a heavy parry he'll get his stunning light and after the infamous light parry the incredible AD MORTEM, INIMICUS! (aka mega-damaging top heavy).
Centurion: this crazy italian dude will be in a bad spot... yes, from incredibly broken, infinite damage chain crazy maniac, he'll become one of the lest effective characters after the patch... If it wasn't for his INCREDIBILIS parry counter! If you didn't know, pressing GB right after any parry will let Cent knee the opponent, guaranteeing a heavy attack which also is fast enough to guarantee a punch WHICH guarantees a light! Also, the parry counter can stagger against walls, giving the max punish! Centurion? Weak? Why would those two words be put in the same quote?
Gladiator: even if this toe-stabbing maniac has a parry counter just like his roman friend, his doesn't guarantee anything, just gives some stunning to let help you get some mix-ups into play. After heavy parry, guaranteed light. After light parry, heavy attack. BUT deflects! Bleed damage, + the option to stagger against a wall and get a heavy!
Vikings
Raider: apparently, vanguards don't care too much about patches. After a heavy parry, light attack. After a light parry, he'll get a SIDE heavy, as a top heavy is too slow. Just 5 damage difference, still.
Warlord:: this boy still is not really getting affected. Light attack after heavy parry, side heavy after light parry.
Berserker: apparently, from what the devs said, no more top heavy from every parry. Light after heavy (maybe?), heavy after light. And deflects that guarantee GBs.
Valkirye: Sweep Girl will have a much harder time getting her max punish agains Out of Stamina opponents because of no GB after parry, but for the rest not much of a change. Light attack after a heavy parry, and vice-versa.
HighLander: BUFF MAH CLASS is getting a buff, but it's not the focus of the discussion. While his normal heavies are too slow to be used as a parry counter, he should be able to do a light parry, switch to offensive form and give an unblockable hit to the opponent. Maybe. His light attacks are fast enough to hit after a heavy parry.
CancerShaman: not really many changes for her. Light attack (double light, for the precision) after a heavy parry, heavy after a light parry. And bloody deflects. Prefectly balanced kit, I know.
Samurai
Kensei: not many changes. Can get a forward helm splitter into mix-up after heavy parry and normal heavy after light parry. Vanguard stuff.
Shugoki: the thicc boi, apparently, might not get any heavy after light parry. From what I've heard. Nor the hug. And that's sad. But after a heavy parry he can get a light into headbutt, which means that probably he'll remove all your stamina.
Orochi: because his double top light deals almost heavy damage, this guy would've not fit with the ongoing changes. SO it will deal 10 less damage, aka 1/3 of its current damage (from 32 to 22). So, double top light after heavy parry and top heavy after light parry. Yet, heavy attcks can be deflected, and his deflect light will do increased damage. Also, remember that move that lets you step back and attack after a "dodge", but missing it lets you vulnerable to a GB? Yes, that's getting a damage buff too.
Nobushi: Bleed Girl is getting normal punishes, light after heavy parry and overly damaging top heavy after light parry. BUT, after the patch being parried will get her closer to the enemy, so no more range invulnerability.
Shinobi: through the power of his ninja tactics, the Shinobi has a parry counter that nobody knows about! Guess it was hidden between the smoke bombs and the shadow-nerfed quad-dash. Anyway, after a heavy parry he can get either a double light or the famous parry counter, that will inflict bleed damage, but I seriously don't know how much. Maybe it deals more damage than the double light, maybe less. I cannot check right now, I'm not on my good PC. Anyway, after a light parry he gets heavy and confirmed light. No more ranged GB + powerful heavy + bleed.
Aramusha: not a whole lot of changes. Light after heavy parry, side heavy after light parry. Maybe after the side heavy he gets a confirmed top light? Still, not that it matters too much.
So, this is what For Honor might look like after the patch.
Deflects and parry counters will be much more viable, as heavy parries will give only lights, meaning that assassins will have an easier time being turtly and LawDaddy will remain LawDaddy, but with reduced Guard Breaks. Vanguards remain neutral, Centurion still gets the most out of parries and Shaman still needs some nerfing, while Orochi mains suffer from the top light nerf and Shugokis get even more into out of stamina stuff.
I would say that OVERALL the game will get a little better, but with some more specific changes to individual heroes' punishes.
But we've got an Operation Health 2.0 in front of us, so why worry? The whole season is about fixing that kind of stuff, so we'll have to wait. Right now, just enjoy this list and wait for the patch to see how it effectively is.
