[SUGGESTION] Dont be scummy and sell stash spaces etc etc.

I cant say I dont believe it but this is a pretty scumbag tactic. Its happened with too many other games out there and Im not supporting it. If you cant cant create good content which players will want to buy and are just deciding to put a dollar price on STASH SPACE, thats it for me. There are several different versions of the game to pre order already, wow. No thanks Div, you just lost a player/sale.
Hope you decide to not starwars battlefront your game.

That's great. I hope, once Ubi figures out and decides to reveal what exactly you'll be getting for your money, that you'll feel it's worth it.

The thing is with all of this monetization and preorder controversy...it's so disappointing to see, because it's so unnecessary. As SkillUp mentioned, I feel like Massive were starting to generate some goodwill with this game. From gameplay that they were showing, and answers they were giving about various things, it seemed like people were getting excited and maybe starting to believe that they really HAD learned from TD1. Sure there are still a lot of unanswered questions, but the point is that, on the whole, things were looking positive.

They could have kept that positive momentum going by bringing out an easy to understand group of preorder editions...that are the same no matter where you live, add in some swag like keychains or statues or weapon skins or other exclusive cosmetics, and call it a day. They'd sell heaps of preorders, and no one would have batted an eyelash.

But instead, they put out a bewildering array of versions that even devoted fans are having a hard time figuring out, let alone casual players who don't actively follow the game. And they do things like putting a price tag on stash space...something which players have been begging for, since pretty much day 1. All of which gives the impression that Ubi/Massive are greedy and tone deaf towards their player base.

Sure, there are a lot of people who don't care and are happy to spend their money on whatever. But there are a lot of people who DO care and are very much turned off by this whole situation. And that's the real shame of the matter, that it's all SO unnecessary. Ubi/Massive don't need guys like SkillUp and Upper Echelon and whoever else, making videos saying things that put their game and their company in a bad light.

They are going to make A TON of money off this game. And maybe that's just it, I guess. Maybe they figure yeah, we'll get some bad press for this, but overall, enough people will go for it, and we'll come out ahead in the profits column, so it'll be worth it. And if that's the case, then I think that's pretty sad.

It seems like Massive didn't learn from their mistakes. Already have made a huge mistake. Selling a pre-order for extra stash space without even defining how much stash space. Yeah, I'm not falling for that. If I'm paying for something, at least I need to know what I'm getting for my money.

Complaining about extra stash space? I guess they have to create drama to get the youtube clicks.

If you think it's simply a matter of complaining about extra stash space you're missing the point. It's a matter of TD1 had issues with stash space until they eventually changed it 8 months down the line and even then it was bugged as hell. It's something that was a massive issue and now it's an extra thing you have to pay for? Plus if, like SkillUp says, it only adds a couple of slots then the people who purchased the Ultimate Edition are short-changed, if they are given a huge number of additional slots then the core player-base have essentially been told they don't matter. PLUS saying the extra slots in the Ultimate Edition are for their 'Most Engaged' players is a big insult to those who love the game, play it a huge amount, but do not have the disposable income to pay for the inflated cost of the Ultimate Edition.

This is it... This is why nothing ever changes. Despite all the greed, despite all the misleading business practices, despite all the deceitful game reveals, promotions and presentations, there're still those willing to pre-order and bow to Ubisoft. It's actually funny, now that I remember Gerighty saying that "they learnt from their mistakes".

they have to have something to validate those higher priced versions of the game because what they're currently offering will be available to everybody who doesn't pay top dollar. i'm sure they'll change it by launch since the youtubers are making videos bashing their plans. And then they'll have to rethink what they offer in those higher bundles. Maybe ACTUAL EXCLUSIVE CONTENT that matters.
