I took the chance to test TD2 at the gamescom, the game looks great so far, just sad that they resorted to Xbox 1X dev kits instead of PCs, in our group one of the games crashed and took like 20 minutes to load it back up since the X1X still has only a HDD.
When we're finally able to play we got our asses whooped, wiping twice in those 15 minutes, tho' we were able to finish. Partly the fault was being it on Xbox with sluggish controller settings. Another part was lacking combat awareness, but one can learn it.
The bigger reason was that there is now lesser contrast between characters and environment, everything and every surface has this glistening sparkle on it causing everything to look like it was pressure-washed with baby lotion and everything blends into each other.
One may say that it is for the sake of visual fidelity, but it hurts the gameplay when you get flanked in the heat of combat, just because you thought the flickering in the corner of your vision was bad anti-aliasing. Not everyone will be able to run the game at 4xDSR with 8xMSAA.
Anyway, one thing that was noticeable in the German translation was that they translated "Respawn" into "Neustart", which actually means either "restart" or "reset" in English, I hope that they'll correct this to "Wiedereinstieg" or just keep it as "Respawn", that word ain't unfamiliar with German game-consumers. And to suffocate some counters: "respawn" and "restart / reset" are 2 different things, one does not require the whole squad to wipe.
Nope, it was the same piece of gameplay.Originally Posted by akinwale Go to original post
