Am I the only one that finds it frustrating that adding a Range Finder to say your Sniper Rifle does not give you a range in your scope when LDSing? I mean the whole point of a range finder is to be able to see a range-to-target without having to pull up your binoculars. For those of us that play limited to no HUD having a range finder do what a range finder is ACTUALLY supposed to do would be a god send.
Well. Rangefinders are a separate device with a viewport of their own. They don't paint the readout to your scope. Specialised high powered scopes (very fancy, expensive stuff) have laser Rangefinders built in.
There's different ways you can mount a RF. Depends on what you want. I used to mount mine on an angle, so I could use the Scopes focus to view the readout port of the RF. I'm gonna adjust focus according to the readout anyway; and it beats looking from one to another. Which you'd ordinarily do.
As I said, the really fancy, very powerful (very expensive) scopes have RF built in. None of which exist in the game. So the devs probably took a bit of creative license there. -- But in the game, you point at the target and it gives you a range at the top of the target. Same thing really.
Some RF have a repeating setting, where they send out the laser periodically in intervals, over a set amount of seconds. Others only send out the laser when you press the button.
As I said. If you aim at the target, it tells you the range. Even in third person. GMT, ctfomf. I'm trying to give the dude a more rounded explanation of what kinds of things the devs are drawing upon and how they solved it into the game, rather than 4 different ways of doing the same thing. -- No HUD means, "No HUD", any HUD. It doesn't get any simpler than "No HUD".
What's wrong with you dude? -- are you.. y'know feeling a bit invisible.. Maybe need a hug?![]()
Yeah, I agree and that's why I was explaining how they've used the best aspects of different ways range finders get used; and rolled it into a single device for the game. -- But the OP is also talking about No HUD. That actually means things like the RF in this game get nerfed. When you choose "No HUD" all HUD elements are gone.
Why would I? you and blue seem to think that we need thourough explanations of what's going on in this game... a newspaper is less repetitive than you two and at the end the OP is looking for the simple explanation and not what it takes to create a game... chill out yourself. I'm telling you... a top ain't got **** on you.
I call BS when I see it, HUD or NOT the range between myseld and my target should be easily accessible.. period.
Since when you aim down a scope there's a lot of black around the sight picture---with the exception of the G28, I think that works differently because it has to be able to switch to the reflex sight---maybe put the rangefinder readout in that black space somewhere as if, as Paladin said, you are mostly looking down the scope but can also look to the side a bit to see your rangefinder's display.
Don't turn HUD's off then, man. There's nothing BS about that. Don't project your constant arguments with Blue on me. That's your problem dude, you choose to do it. Like, you state you call BS when you see it, but he baits you hardcore, Lol!Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post![]()
Way back in the day, I would switch back from scoping to Bino to find the range. Now since overhead marker and minimap dot are one thing together, I don't need to do that anymore. It's really stupid though. I really wish it's separated again because believe it or not, overhead marker makes the game easier by quite a jump. This is why I also prefer to have the 'Range Finder' attachment to somehow brings up the range. Even if it's not realistic by having a text box at the lower right of the scope (or on your side if you use third person), that would be fine by me just as an additional feature of a part that not every gun can have.
