People use the word Lag far to often, or as a short hand to discribe an issue.
But having the same issue repeat,in the same way, for the same amount of time = something else
I have suggested before. That if i were on PC i would try to use diffrent Drivers to correct the issue. Many times when a PC game is updated it cuases issues becuase there are so many diffrent configurations for PC and switching drivers often corrects the issue for most people.
Its one of the Main Reasons to buy a Console over a PC = millions of people have the Exact same set up so its far easier for the Developers to track down a specific issue than it is on PC.
It is not Only the Division who is doing updates, Sony constantly is doing updates to PS4.
And in the last 6 months 90% of the updates have been to Add spam like the new TV&VIDEO Scolling menu that shows whats on everything from NetFlix To Amazon Prime to Hulu to Playstation Vue to Recommended Videos for you on Youtube based on your past viewing = ALL of that takes resources. Im not saying this is the Exact thing that is causing the lag.. but if it is running in the backround when playing games it could be drawing resources. away from the game enough that the game is having a 5 second delay.
The 5 Second delay started for me around 6 months ago. It started as 2 to 3 seconds and now is a constant 5 to 6 seconds. Its gotten worse but the issue itself had remained exactly the same. So again i do not believe it is server lag.
I personally believe it has nothing to do with Server Lag becuase if it was it would be a more random depending on what server. What time of day you played. Etc.. but this happens regardless of server load..
I am pretty sure there is either a conflict with a Sony PS4 Update and The Division. Or a Conflict with a Division update and the Ps4.
As i stated i removed all games from Ps4. Cleared all memory. I opened up my entire PS4 (even had to break the stickers and fight with these annoying lockkey nuts (you can use a flat head screw driver but it is a pain in the rump) to be able to open it up.
I completed blew out any and all dust. The Large FAN had a light dust built up on its blades but nothing major that would cuase the the fan to not work or work slowly...But ....i also never thought and still do not believe it to be an Over heating issue. Becuase the issue is to Normalized it happens from a fresh start up of the system to if the systems been running for 4 hours = the same as it does not matter time of day or server load.
As a previous poster stated. He is also running a wired 100mps set up. Has ports forwarded. So it is not a Wireless issue
I purchased a high quality USB wire and went into settings and changed controller to use USb instead of Bluetooth = No change at all ..so it is not a controller to Ps4 Bluetooth Lag issue.
After all the steps i have taken. My conclusion is it is something to do with either
1) a Division update that is in conflict with a Sony update.
2) a Sony update that is in conflict with a Division update.
3) a firmware issue (something is delaying the game from reading the memory for 5 seconds)
4) Something is running in the backround on PS4 that is using respurces when the Division is running, Cuasing the game to have a 5 second delay between input into the game and the game reacting to the input.
And lastly
5) a question i just thought of today, what PS4 models are having this issue = its a widespread issue..
i do not believe PS Pro Users have this issue...
Also other Ps4 users have stated they do not have this issue..
...I have a Day 1 PS4 system.. perhaps the problem is there....(if others could add if they are on the original Ps4 or a Newer Ps4..)....
Perhaps Something with the Original Ps4 model needs a seperate update(Driver)...if i was on a PC i would try a diffrent driver since im on an old model Ps4 to see if that resolved the issue..
Since this issue started about 6 months ago.. i would look to the Sony and Division updates as the starting point. What changed and why is it happening on Some PS4 and not others?..
And also if it was on PC i would run a Program to see What Resources are being used while playing the game. Since i cannot do that on PS4 i can only Assume the PS4 system has applications running in the backround when The Division is running (and personally i believe that is the case. Something os taking away from The Division resources and it has only gotten worse over 6 months and more SONY updates as they add More Spam to their system)
As a developer, im sure the must be aware of what would cuase these type symptoms in their game....it certainly is not Packet Loss or Latency between the server.. it is not Controller input lag as i am direct wired on a USB Connection(not blue tooth) and i have 5 diffrent controllers 3 old style and 2 new style one being just 3 or 4 months old.
So the field has been pretty narrowed down.
Its not a wifi issue. Its not server lag. Its not controllet lag. The ports are open . Wired 100mbs connection. Fresh clean system inside and out (fresh clean restart of the ps4 and only the division installed). Etc.etc..
At this point they should have tracked down the issue to be in one of a couple areas..its been 6 months..so there is no way they could be 100% clueless about what could be the cuase of this issue that is effecting Alot of PS4 owners.
