Fishing is so boring in this game.
Anyway, I am trying to catch the Admiral. I found out after wasting about 40 mins that I needed the level 2 rod and the perk that tires the fish faster. I got them.
This mission is still impossible. I'm sure its broken. I've had hooks before now where I got the fish and literally touched nothing and the line just snapped without warning. No matter what I do, the fish either never tires after 5 mins + or the line just snaps randomy.
Any advice or help please? I utterly despise it when things happen beyond my control which this seems to be doing.
I just started a new playthrough and began with the Skylar Kohrs missions, because I remember them being buggy months ago, if you did any fishing before the mission: people complained, since you could fish as many sturgeons as you wanted, they still would not be counted. (Don't know, if this got fixed in an update meanwhile.)
My experiences/results:
1. You can go for any slamon, sturgeon or bass you want. You do not need to go to the spots, Skylar marks on your map.
2. You do not need a special rod. The standard one does the job, too.
3. You do not need the fishing perk. You can catch all fish and even the admiral without it.
I was quite surprised, so I decided to bump this and share my thoughts.
Hi there everyone
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not the type of bait you use that makes it possible to catch different fish?Originally Posted by rabe277 Go to original post
As far as I'm aware, all rods can be used for all fish; the better rods merely make it easier for you.
And the fishing perk gives you access to a wider variety of flies, which attract different fish.
Does that sound right?

Wrong, though it may he because some change after your post.Originally Posted by Ubi-CJ Go to original post
At least for the named fishes (Ragnar and Admiral), just use your rod normally and you'll hook the named ones immediately, as long as you're in the correct position/area.
This is about rubbish mechanics.
Btw, the only guaranteed method of catching the Admiral and completing the quest, is to abuse poor game design. For those who don't know what I'm talking about: do it in co-op from a boat, where some other player simply drives towards the fish, while the other player reels in. I'll never do that, because I will never ever play games like this one in co-op. Therefore, I'll probably never ever gonna complete this quest at all, since I don't have more patience after fighting the fish for nearly 1 hour straight without any sign of progress. Rubbish like this is also the reason why I haven't preordered FC6, and won't buy it until I'm sure it doesn't have bs like this.
