I want to start off by saying that I enjoy the Division more than any game in recent years. However, I am not a fanboy and not blind to the issues this game has had (still has). I just wanted to vent my grievance, because every time I look at the forums, I see new people commenting on the same things.
Firstly, I must admit that I was a little annoyed when JG announced that the Div 2 was in development and had been since like 3 weeks after launch. Even this new 1.8.3 patch.... Not the patch itself, just the pulling teeth nature of it. Did it really take you so long to find these problems.... or any problems in the game? Was this the entire theme of all live support for Div1? Yes, now you keep saying how you are so busy with Div 2 that you don't have the resources to keep fixing the live game. Was that the real issue all along? Did you guys know that from a coding point of view this game was a dumpster fire right out the gate? You just tried to sweep it under the rug as fast as you could?
I guess the real motive behind my annoyance and questions relate to the fate of the original Destiny. That game had a huge conflict late in the dev cycle that saw the game gutted and while I would like to know more about the inside story I know enough to understand, even if as a consumer I am still grumpy and will now avoid any bungie good faith day 1 buys. At least that is a reason though, what went wrong with the Division? I would seriously want to know. Was there internal conflict or did a moron from corporate get his nose into something he should not have? Could it have been an even worse option, just straight lazy garbage work from a sub par developer?
I remember filling out the surveys from massive asking questions on the future of the division series. I put that you should add new content and fix the game before you even think about doing anything else. Yet since launch we got next to nothing for new content just recycled junk. Plus, It seemed like each patch you had to refix the same stupid issues you claimed to fix the last patch.... and it is still broke.... You paused content for the 1.7 update to try and get the game on track. What was the plan if that pause was never needed. I find it hard to believe that you had no continued content plans. So is there all sorts of cool unfinished content that you just abandoned?
Could you imagine buying a new car and there being an airbag malfunction or weak break lines. Regulators would be all over the auto company if they reacted like Massive/Ubi has. I know it is just a game but who likes buying broken products?
Will The Div 2 suffer the Destiny 2 fate? "Hey guys don't worry, we at Bungle-gie promise if you buy Destiny 2 it will be 100% better and actually include a story this time". Then a year later announce a DLC that costs the same as the base game but promises to fix all the problems and make the game fun..... I am just baffled by that. Like simply wow, are you really billing your DLC as the product that will make the original purchase playable..... for 60 more bucks? I have friends who actually believe it, I also have friends who know it is stupid yet still pre-ordered it. WTF! Div 2 don't suck, not a high bar, just don't suck.
Also as a side note. Is it just me or are Ubi games becoming the land of multiplayer trolls? I do not remember playing other competitive games and getting so much hate mail. Not in Halo or Gears, and only a few times in my years of others like WoW, CoD, TF, CS, BF, etc. It is just insane how many people in Ubi games like For Honor, the Crew, the Division, Siege, and even going back to older ghost recon days find the need to message someone about being trash because they lost. Is it really so important for your small epeen to waste your time and mine to call me a noob or worse because I killed you and ruined your perfect game. Or ran back to my team to avoid dying a useless 1v4? People make me sad. I am not going to let some sad troll bully me on the internet. I will troll you right back and make you say something to get banned. I just wish I could play a game and not need to worry about pseudo stalkers.
I can't remember the number of games iv'e brought not liked and sold on and not given them a second thought so yes the Division is just a game. Now every so often a game will strike a cord with me and I will continue playing it even if Im not great at the game or the game has issues and this is my take on the division for me. I guess the players who bother to comment on this forum and other sites about this game suggesting the common sense changes to improve the experience don't know what goes on behind the scenes. This week's changes prove again that the coding or whatever the technical term is on the game is able to separate PVP and PVE and is welcome for many(sorry striker's) how many more players would have stayed the course and be preording D2 if this had been the case from release.
It is the throw away life we have nowadays , nothing is meant to last , the faster you go through something the more money they make..As for the get gud squad most of them use glitches and hacks.they think they are good and like to call people noobs, So they started playing games as experts ??? Some people need to grow up and look in to a mirror, and help newcomers not put them down, and the devs need to fix the game not sweep it under the carpet and say we do not have the time for this one now we are making another bug ridden game with no proper server support or anti cheat engine...
TD has / had so many things working against it, we should feel lucky that it lasted this long.
1st. They had such a diverse target customer base. Yet they listened to only YouTubers for so long, which the YouTubers only cared for their own agenda. That agenda was usually targeting their playstyle and who cares about other players. We need to keep our view numbers up. Ubi/Massive did it
2nd. TD at it's core is about dividing it's playerbase and keeping them opposing each other. It is a Troll's paradise, the whole premise is put other player's down and then insult them for being losers. Meanwhile if they beat you, they are cheaters of some sort. Very few times have I seen players engage each other and afterwards, felt it was actually fun PvP comprised of players who was there for the same reason PvP.
3rd. You had so many bugs that Ubi/Massive, was behind the 8 ball per se. They never seemed ahead of the issues. Always trying to keep up and unsure of what to do when they did find a problem, which took months to fix, on everything. I remember at one point there was 2 issues after an update, where the 1st problem had been occurring for months and they couldn't resolve the issue, but the other was giving too much experience in the DZ and players was leveling up crazy fast. They hot fixed the DZ experience in less then 2 hours. The other lasted for months and players just got tired of complaining about it.
4th. Then Ubi/Massive because they had moved on to the next game, they didn't figure TD would last a year. They made no content beyond that. So when Year 2 started, everyone was floored that they had no new content. At that time they admitted that they couldn't add anything new ever. All they could do was add onto what was already there. They finally came around to add new stuff and it was all stuff that should have bee in the game Day 1.
5th. Gear? Well because they moved everyone off of the game, they had no one actually support the game. Those that was left could do nothing but nerf everything, Instead of balance the old stuff to be competitive with the new stuff. Meanwhile setting back and letting players argue about it.
6th. When players did point out issues, Ubi/Massive response in the beginning was if you don't like it, then this game is not for you. In my opinion, that was saying they didn't want players playing the game. They didn't expect players to want to play the game. We lost a very large percentage of our playerbase and Ubi/Massive was like, well we don't care. You ticked off your customers and you think it that is acceptable business.
Why didn't they say so, who cares about buying a broken game as long as I get a Tommy the Teddy. To be honest, I just want a it to be a stuffed teddy bear that does the same damage as an NPC in Legendary Missions.Originally Posted by XahRith16 Go to original post![]()
I am only ordering and pre-ordering the game because of the teddy, and hopefully they bring back all the bugs from TD1. And I am really hopeful the one punch=down feature returns, but not just for legendary enemies, but for all npcs.Originally Posted by XahRith16 Go to original post
Yet it takes at least to mags to kill anything else. That's the only way I will accept the atomic elbow.Originally Posted by Butcher851 Go to original post
I did not mean to imply that I am worried like OMG the sky is falling. It is more of the feeling that a hobby you enjoy is descending into a place that makes it much less enjoyable. For the past 4 years, 95% of my game time give or take, has been spent inside Destiny and the Division. I enjoy the essence that is at the heart of both games. I would even say that other games are just no longer interesting to me. So yes I am worried for a hobby to the extent that the sequel to this game will be ruined because 3 weeks after launch they will abandon ship and begin work on Div3 or who knows what. I would also like to add buying and selling games is fine, but it still wastes some money, and the bad studio does not really care if you stay after they got the cash
I also understand **** talking, but that is not what the problem is. I mean most people throw trash each others way as a part of rivalry. It just seems like Halo and many FPS games are limited to the T-bag and others have some emotes. Yet Ubi games involve trolling message spam, and chat invite spam just to call you trash in front of somebody's 6 friends so they seem tough... it is a little bit ridiculous. I mean I know the DZ can be a very polarizing topic, but I never found the need to do anything but let a glitcher/hacker know I recorded them. I never found the need to jump farmers 4v1 and call them trash. To paraphrase the Joker, The DZ needs a new breed of rogue. The classless drones that copy a build on youtube, buy a mod or cheat, and then pretend they are good just bring shame to actual people who play the DZ in a normal way.
