Get underground. I stick to PVE personally, but even then, helicopter crashes and the easy to find or obvious above ground locations get looted, and looted quick. As well as this, you're constantly on the brink of freezing until you're suitably dressed.

If you can find a manhole leading to a sewer, they always have decent loot in them, and importantly, they're warm - You can wander through the tunnels (most of the sections contain at least a couple of different looting locations) without having to worry about temperature. By the time you're climbing back up the ladder, you're almost always fairly well armed and well dressed, which makes continuing on an awful lot easier.
Usually lots Purple NPCs as well, so take it slow. Downside is you have to surface to get a SafeHouse if you need anything crafted.

True that, although I've found it's usually a few reds with a purple alongside them - Although one particular tunnel system has a gold cleaner heavy at the bottom of the second ladder. Good thing about being underground is you can take damage and retreat without worrying about the cold finishing you. Taking the temperature element out of the early stage fights makes them a lot easier to handle, but definitely worth being cautious.

I know the tunnel you are talking about. It used to be the hotspot everyone used. Not so much anymore. I did find one tunnel that had a room full of purple NPCs. It's not marked as a landmark, but it had plenty of loot.

I've quite often found people will go into a tunnel, clear out the first set of bad guys and loot, and then head back up - most of the time people don't tend to realise following the tunnels often leads to other spots. I think the one with the cleaner heavy is towards the bottom near one of the popular LM's, so it gets a fair amount of attention - There's a lot of them scattered about that people quite often miss though.

Also, the satisfaction of finally taking out that cleaner heavy with the starting pistol after several runs of "Shoot weak spot a few times before he's in range then run back up the ladder" is immeasurable.

Yes, I agree that the underground sections are a good choice, since they are warm and full of loot. However, as Yoda said, you have to be careful with the veterans (often with turret) and elites there. But some locations are really worth the risk. I like the UG in DZ 5, for example, the one close to the extraction zone. There is only one heavy guy and one vet, but several bags with medicine, 3 Div Tec, medkits and weapon parts etc, And often, when all other Div Tecs are already looted, you can still find them there.

I almost always enter the DZ at the top right entrance as 90% of the time i get spawned in the bottom right corner of the map for some reason, its the one that puts you in the Pit. On both sides up top there are Division tech boxes along with the one at the bottom within the pit. Then of course you can go underground right there and collect those as well if you want but i usually leave those until i get geared up better. After i take out those 3 boxes, i head over to the Q and sneak in there and grab the d-tech from in there. You can then make a run through the Q if you are brave and havnt alerted the npcs in there or go back out and go around but i then go and get the d-tech in the room that used to be the Rogue room and for those who dont know what that is its the room that is in the alley behind the safehouse in 6. Then i go to the safehouse and gear up almost fully at that point between the scavenging in the LZ and the DT you just acquired. Good luck out there agents.

I like this entrance, too. Only few players use it and, as you said, there are three Div Tec caches. Apart from Q building, you can also sneak to the DivTec in the UG landmark. You only have to be a bit careful with the two purple Cleaners and their numerous red friends at the entrance.

Yep, most people enter the lower DZ as its the closest most of the time. Out of hundreds of runs, that area has been looted before i got there about 5 times in total. So you get all the easy DT plus all the upper DZ landmarks are yours for the taking as well.
