Not sure if anyone's brought this up before, but here it is.
So in most of your weapons with piston systems the gas block is part of the barrel mesh rather than being part of the model of the main body of the weapon.
This means that when you paint a weapon but want to leave the barrel black for realism (because barrels get pretty hot and burn paint off) the gas block (also extremely hot) is whatever colour the barrel is. So also black.
Unfortunately the AK12, my favourite of the available Russian weapons, is erroneously meshed so that the gas block is part of the upper receiver rather than the barrel assembly. Thus I can't use a paint or camo on my AK12 while keeping the gas block black.
The AK47 also has this problem.
I'd really appreciate it if a community rep could pass this issue on to the devs to sort out in this September health patch thingie. It shouldn't be too hard to move the gas block from the upper receiver mesh to the barrel mesh, I could do something like that myself in 3DS Max in seconds.
Thanks in advance!

Bro why are you even playing GRW?
You're probably a filthy AR-15 peddler...or worse one of those European Bullpup fanatics. You need some good old Soviet steel in your hands. An AK-47 is the ONLY option for an OPERATOR(TM) in a Ghost Recon team.
Deniable - So ubiqutous that the only Undeniable thing about the AK-47 is it's godlike power
Reliable - Hardier than Ubisoft's thick skin
Handsome - Look at that magnificent Banana...........magazine
Badass - The AK-47....Chuck Norris's Concealed Carry
You need to go stand in a corner, face the wall and rethink your choices in Ghost Recon Wildlands. After you've reconciled with yourself, go grab "God's Own Dropkick" (the AK-47) from Libertad, slap on a GP-25 and a folding stock....and play the game like an actual ****ing OPERATOR (TM) would.
Good Talk. I'm off...got a HALO jump at 0800.
Haha, I feel you man, but I just consider AKs to be too large, so it's more aesthetics in that regard. I suppose I can easily consider myself an AR fanboy anyway. They're small, smooth, sexy, just ughhhh ye boiiiiiOriginally Posted by shobhit7777777 Go to original post
And why I play GRW while I like realism? Well mostly for customisation probably
I also play Squad for instance, but that's just a different cookie
Shobhit, we've been over this! Why shoot like rainbow at 301 metres when you can shoot like laser? XDOriginally Posted by shobhit7777777 Go to original post
Real Russians haven't used 7.62x39 since 1974!
Do yourself the biggest favour the world has ever seen and get yourself an AK12! And then put all kids of highspeed **** on it like Spetsnaz and shoot rifle like Bobsled! So cool.
I suppose this would also be an appropriate time to complain that when you look in weaponsmith in GRW it says the AK12 uses 7.62x39 instead of 5.45x39.
Some other weapons have this issue as well, like the Magpul PDR---which fires 5.56 and should not even be in the SMG category---says in weaponsmith that it uses 6x35 like the KAC PDW ("SR635") and shares magazines with it.
Good. Let them know Jens is dissing the AK.Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post

In-game I stick the M4/P416....and the AK-47 for general purpose - I like my Ghost to blend in.
Ha! You fell for capitalist propaganda!Originally Posted by non-exist-ent Go to original post
No 12. 47. Only 47. RIP Bob Sled. If he only had a 47.Do yourself the biggest favour the world has ever seen and get yourself an AK12! And then put all kids of highspeed **** on it like Spetsnaz and shoot rifle like Bobsled! So cool.
47>12
7.62x39 > 5.45x39
7>5
The science is undeniable. Basic mathematics proves the superiority of the 7.62 short. What do you have to say to THAT, Sir.
Agreed. Some other weapons have this issue as well, like the Magpul PDR---which fires 5.56 and should not even be in the SMG category---says in weaponsmith that it uses 6x35 like the KAC PDW ("SR635") and shares magazines with it.
Future Soldier made a distinction between PDRs and SMGs. In fact, Future Soldier thrashes Wildlands when it comes to Gunsmith. From Gas system to triggers, you had way more options and control.
