Hey fellow ghosts I just found this information on the reddit website and thought I’d link it here and hopefully all you Xbox gamers can maybe try this if you was looking for a potential way to back your saved data.
I don’t know if it works as I don’t have an Xbox but wanted to try help out a fellow ghost regardless, good luck.

Yeah I know right, I have replied to try and get confirmation off that poster but so far to no avail.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
I know a lot of the guys/girls here was talking in another thread about whether or not a back up was possible on the Xbox so I figured there should be more interest on this forum and hopefully someone to actually test it out.
Interesting..... Be cool to have an XB1 player confirm it here as well as this could really help. I know GM has changed for me since I started backing up my saves on PS4. .....never really had to use the feature before.Originally Posted by X_FRoeeeeee Go to original post
Yah, that would work. It also means you lose any rewards from the failed play through and if you do it wrong, will lose your ENTIRE SAVE FILE! Basically you are using the auto-sync backwards, because you won't be online when you are playing or when you die. The game deletes your slot immediately upon death.
Just make sure you don't die when you're connected to the internet. Basically. -- and connect periodically and start the game so the cached rewards get awarded (like Prestige Credits, Uplay coins, etc..). Don't actually play when connected. Maybe just free travel from one safe house to another, only, then quit. To trigger the sync.
Play only unconnected to the net and then, when you die, quit to the home screen immediately. Manually go to the install location in manage games & apps. Delete the save data and then connect to the net, start the game and it will download the shadow copy.
Do it wrong however, and you will LOSE your entire save file. Because the save data for your whole game (every mode included) is in one, roughly 774Kb file.
Be careful, understand what you are doing before you try tricking the sync service. There is, afterall, no way to manually save your save file. Tricking the sync service was always there, if you could be bothered.
Fair Warning: Just be careful and do not make a mistake. You'll lose it all. There is a huge margin for human error doing this. We are, talking about a file that represents 100's of hours of play time here..
Also, if the devs cache failed play through counts in a future patch, then it will upload the moment you are online again, before you can do anything about it.
XBOX One gives you no way to manipulate saves or the sync-service directly. Remember that.
Hey man listen no problem and it’s good to hear the flip side of what can happen if it goes wrong etc.. I just saw this and was hoping it could help you guys on Xbox but obviously it’s down to you to weight up the pros and cons before deciding whether it’s worth it.Originally Posted by Paladinrja Go to original post

Yeah, cool; exactly bro.Originally Posted by X_FRoeeeeee Go to original post
Ya gotta yank/switch off the router and make sure no updates are queued/pending for this game. I get that same message if I try to play in "offline mode" it won't let you.Originally Posted by DIDJAMOM Go to original post
If you're wired? -- Yank the cable from the console.
If you're wireless? -- Switch off the mobile broadband router or switch it off in setting/network.
Unfortunately the XBOX version is hobbled by sharing the same SKU with Playstation. Even though they're completely different consoles.
One is a Windows 10 device, the other is PoS, more people bought because it's cheap. That's why we get stupidly large patches and the consoles features don't get used, like "Offline MODE"
