Now as much as i hate spending real money on cosmetics, i really can't do anything about it it, except either buy or don't buy. But they way you guys structured your whole store was just God awful. The fact nothing from these packs can be bought separately, makes you guys seem like you got the Grinch finger. There needs to be an update to the store as well, making things purchasable with the credits still, but this time every piece costs a different amount.( Can't be ridiculous either, has to add to amount of the full pack) for example the r6s pack is 2800 credits ( which is ridiculous because that's pretty much $20, definitely should be lowered) the 416 would be maybe 4-600 credits while the two mask's reach for maybe 300 each.
This would get more money imo because honestly mostly all of your packs, only has about 2-3 good items in there. This also shows where most of your fanbase wants cosmetic wise. You waste time in your weapon skins and paints, but there is not many shotguns in game, lvoa c still not here, so much missing wanted and fitting content. I would rather pay for something in want, than to either gamble or be forced to buying a pack because that's the only way you'll get the item.
A store update is needed, like what happened to the ghost war packs, there hasn't been any added since the recruit pack, and the only good thing out of that pack was a tactical scarf lmao. Yet we had all these new operators come out and yet no more new gear. I'm still waiting on these darn modern plate carriers, i mean forget the liscense with whoever, change it up or make your own version and implement it.
Now if this gets no response from UBI that's sad because this post pretty much spells take my money.
I'd support this, but I doubt it will happen.
The Predator pack items are now coming up in battle crates, so maybe with "SO3" or "SO4" they will redo items again and put the R6 pack stuff in crates.
You'll have to gamble for them then of course.
Battle crates are a cheap way to get stuff---at 400 credits per three items---but you have to be willing to commit to getting everything really. Might be many, many crates before some things you want come up. Not a problem for people like me, I kinda like the idea of having everything, I'll probably spam all the post "SO2" crates at some point the way I did all the pre "SO2" ones.
But I don't think it serves the business model to cater to people who want to cherrypick individual items. I'm sure Ubi have business types who model people's purchasing habits and try to estimate how much revenue would be made from people who have hitherto not bought anything because they only want a few select items...versus how much income would be lost if people who are fine with buying packs or spamming crates (like me) suddenly had the option to cherrypick as well.
I consider very few of the items a real waste---probably the only things I'd never want ever are icons, I prefer to have my own customisable toon---but, I dunno, if I could cherrypick I'd probably have spent a lot less terran currency in the store than I have. As I said above I do kinda like the thought of collecting the lot, but overall I would probably tend towards inertia except over specific clothing items that really, really complete a look or certain vehicles I really, really want for RPing purposes or something.
Whereas what's actually happened is that I decided there were enough items I wanted "enough" to justify going for the whole collection in the cheapest way possible, ie spamming crates.
Does that mean people like me are "the problem"? Maybe, yes, for people like you. People like me being okay with how things stand are propping up the current microtransaction model. There must be a lot of us though. And when we're only really talking about a few tens of euros/dollars/whatever---and when the gold edition of the game only costs €30ish these days---I find it hard to make myself feel bad about either my own spending or the effects it has on the store economy.
I don't know, maybe it is a serious ethical quagmire I'm simply using cognitive dissonance reduction techniques to moonwalk my way out of.
I agree, of course.
Everything I want(ed) is spread in a sh*t ton of packs, if I'd purchase all the packs seperately I'd probably go over 100 euros in total for less than 10 items.
Military humvee, the helmets with NVGs, those new black gloves (not Caveira's, but idk their name), the HK416, but to get that helmet for instance, you MUST get the season 2 pack, f*ck that.
I was lucky to get a few items I wanted in prestige crates (Unidad helicopter, ACH helmet, tactical scarf)
