If people really love Destiny and want to support their game studio, they would purchase the license for the content they want to play. If they don't have the license to play and will miss a badge, that's their problem. What is wrong here is people who should be able to play at the moment are unable to play and are being kicked from the game because the instances are breaking always.

No more freebies that bring harm to legit owners of licenses, PLEASE.
How about they just anticipate the growth and scale up to accommodate it?

    That costs money.

In which I partly agree with the OP on this, stop giving free weeks of DLC relating to the launch of new shields. If those players who want the shields do not have the DLC, then they should simply pay for it. It is cheaper now than at launch of the DLC by quite a margin, the additional income may help Massive pay for the extra infrastructure required as well.

Either that or follow the model of other developers where they have a free weekend every now and again, giving those players truly unable to pay for DLC a chance to earn those shields. I'd question if someone isn't able to pay for the DLC should even be playing games, perhaps they should go earn some money instead (not meant to be insulting, but priorities....).

Instead, what we have is those who have legitimately paid for this DLC are now unable to play the DLC due to the influx of players trying to obtain the shield during the free DLC week. This isn't entirely on Massive here, they haven't been provided the funds to maintain or increase server capacity due to players not paying for DLC.

Why should the rest of the community suffer for those who haven't supported the game?

    "That cost money."
You make the assumption that it cost money. What makes you think they do not have the resources already available? Not as many players play anymore and resources can be reallocated. THEY made the decision to make this free. THEY should have anticipated the growth.

"Why should the rest of the community suffer for those who haven't supported the game?"

This is not our (end user) decision to make. The development of the DLC, along with other cost has been paid for. Much like other things that cost up front but is either much cheaper or free after the initial investment is recouped. Many players do not purchase DLC. Why wouldn't they get something offered for free? Guess what? It is working now as intended. It was a miscalculation on Ubisoft's part. All is well. If people like the "Survival" DLC they may purchase it.

This is one of the main reasons im not preordering TD2, they have all this info from past mistakes and NEVER apply any of that knowledge to keep it from happening again. Or at least that is how it appears to us, what could be even worse is that they are actually trying to not repeat past mistakes and just simply arent capable of doing it.
[Sarcasm]Get out of here with that logic and common sense! This is the Division!!! We don't like your kind around here!![/Sarcasm]

BTW, I agree with you 100%.

The amount of extension cords required to beef up the servers costs way to much

What extension cords? I've played a lot of Survival and had some disconnections in the past. In all of them I had been able to reconnect and not loosing my session, only now I loss session with a warning that session was no longer available. This is most likely because instanced processes were being dropped on the server. This didnt looked at all a lack of bandwidth. Bandwidth is easy to escalate and in most cases there isnt really required any human intervention. Now processes dieing or going into Z status seems more like the case.

Why people assume is always bandwidth?

You speak a lot and dont say anything. You a journalist?

Welcome to the real world. Yes it costs money. I shouldn't even need to expand on that.

How much money did it cost? They got the problem solved in a matter of hours. Where did the money come from? I didn't pay anything extra. Maybe it had more to do with the update? How exactly do you know it cost money? Not already in place laying dormant? Maybe they had a budget in place already. The bottom line is they offered it and should have planned better for it. Can we agree on that? It is working now and money does not seem to be the problem. Can we agree on that?
