A post from Ubi-JollyCharly today confirmed that we are indeed getting NO new game modes. I thought some map makers would like to know this, in case you were holding out hope (like I was).
Original Post
Again Ubisoft does it!(
Put all this effort in creating the most awesome editor in history, support that beyond our dreams, but forget AGAIN that it should be much more than just a building dream. OMG
Let's face it FC5 is a FPS game. When the PvP experience is not fully developed, the whole editor means much much less. What is left loses its appeal for the majority of gamers. Only the builders stay, because they care more about the building and creativity process then the gaming. But they are only 1-2% of the player base.
What you left with, after 6 months, is a dead game, still with loads of unused potential, but with devs that don't see this. Onward to their next project. When will they learn? OMG
What a shame.
I think we will get about 2 more asset drop updates and the dev team will then move on to other projects. im just glad we got a lobby system before they end the updates. if updates/support were going to go into 2019 i think we would get a new game mode but i think we are very close to the end of updates/support. we cant blame the dev team they have orders to follow, it's the higher ups that decide when support ends. i knew things were too good to be true with all this games as a service talk. the community will carry on mapping regardless. as with every far cry game the mapping community is left alone abandoned after 6 months or less by ubi. i will keep mapping though as will all the hardcore dedicated mappers, we are suckers for punishment lol.
Gotta say its kinda lazy on their part. Something as simple as adding a timed delay to the settings for the damage over time boxes could give us a battle royal mode. I think we could still make a Capture the flag mode by stealing ATV's from each others side or something idk. Maybe we can put our heads together and figure out some modes we can create with the stuff we have now. Us editors can still save this game, just like we have been from the begginning. Lets keep pouring water on this dead fish.
I think we should at least reach out to out our favorite far cry YouTubers so they can at least make a video informing the wider audience and maybe if we can rally up enough people we could at least convince them to give us a couple more options in the settings tab at least such as no respawning and health modifier or not able to pick up weapons GUYS AT LEAST TRY IT'S ALWAYS WORTH A TRY #SaveFarCryArcade ..... P.S. I am going to start naming my maps #SaveArcade if you want to as well that would be good as we could maybe get a small movement going and if someone makes a amazing map the developers are bound to see the hashtag if they are going to feature it
So all that’s very unfortunate to read. No respawning vehicles nearly kills any reason to have vehicles at all. And for a first game to have air vehicles, that’s a HUGE bummer.
And no new modes is basically an arrow to the knee for the game IMO. There are A LOT of objective mode players in the shooter community. And nothing promotes Map creativity more than objectives.
And after all this, I feel kinda let down. I’ve made three maps, two of which are 4 Star (and somehow didnt get featured, which is a bit crushing, as they both took literal DAYS to make.), and here we are net with the same show-stopping factor that ever Far Cry before, has met: failure to reach its potential. And there’s SO MUCH potential here.
I’m proud of this game and this team for Far Cry 5. So many of the issues I had with FC3 and FC4 were addressed here. Communication, post launch support and adding assets, etc. but if you can’t simply do the basics that everyone were asking for since day one, (and frankly, things that should have been there at launch, oddly weren’t), the longevity of the community overall, will hit a hard wall.
Modes are so important. I can even live without vehicle respawns, tho “technical reasons” sounds very..... odd.
So before you move on, Ubi- please at least leave us with some work-arounds and continuity feature like modes, etc. Or I’m waaay less inclined to put days of effort into my creations, if there’s so few left of us to play them
All I have to say is that I hope next time around more attention is paid to the MP rather than some lackluster SP self contained experiences. Don't get me wrong, the assets were nice; but more game modes would have really set this title apart in the MP. Battle Royale, CTF, Domination, Conquest and Assault modes could have really made this game one of the only ones anyone was playing. I think Ubi could learn a thing or two from Epic games at this point. Free2Play Arcade should be a thing. More game modes with F2P arcade this could have (or maybe the next one could be) the biggest game in the world.
Far Cry 3 released November 29, 2012, GTA 5 released September 17, 2013 Youtube loves GTA Online. I don't have time for Multiplayer games like grinding to level up, I get bored of games after about 30-50 hours then I need new graphics. I got into solo arcade editor it's helped me a lot while trying to get better at drawing on paper. Most shooter players suck at art so Arcade editor won't apeal to them, it takes 4 years to learn how to draw then add 4 years for design school. The average gamer doesn't have the time or skill to spend 2 weeks making a 5 star map. It takes 2 weeks just to remember what is in the over 10, 000 assets in Editor.
I stopped playing GTA 5 2 years ago after spending hours on cheat mode having a riot with the cops on the Los Angeles freeways and back streets but the graphics got old so I moved on, Far Cry has released Far Cry 3, 4, Primal and 5 since GTA 5 came out, I think Ubisoft is doing pretty good.
Whenever they come up with new graphics they release another Assassin Creed or Far Cry while Rockstar has been milking the GTA 5 map with online sales. Probably if Ubisoft focused on Far Cry Online like GTA they'd still be working on Far Cry Primal so 5 wouldn't have even been made yet lol.
Of course I hope for new assets and updates for next year but by then Ubisoft will have new graphics and be working on Far Cry 6 so then the new Assets and textures will be updated in the new Far Cry 6 Arcade.
