Does this game have a free-roam type of mode after completion? Perhaps with randomized missions assignments (assassinate, snatch & grab, destroy a location, etc.)? The only reason I avoided this game is because it looks like a "one and done" type of game where you play the story, and then you're left with nothing to do afterwards (I play RB6 for my PvP…..and frankly, I'd like to take a break and play against AI in random missions).
Unfortunately the answer is no. After you complete the main campaign and hit level 30 you can activate tier mode which basically was Ubisoft’s idea of adding longevity to their title.
In Tier mode you start at Tier-50 and you work your way down to Tier-1. You can replay missions to get Tier points that work just like exp and after enough Tier points you can level down. After you have completed all the green side missions, ie, the steal helicopter/plane or intimidate cartel leader ones they are gone off your map for good and don’t respawn. The only side missions that respawn are convoy missions and that’s it I’m afraid, however you can join a public lobby on matchmaking and it will respawn all the side missions on the map provided the host hasn’t already completed them I believe.
All in all this game does unfortunately not have much replayability and instead offers a more grind for the sake of grind aspect to it which is a shame.
Yes unfortunately this is true.
Playing on different difficulties like extreme or reducing/ removing the HUD gave me some more replayability, but there is a lot of grind for the sake of it.
I personally enjoyed the fallen ghosts dlc with new enemy types and a few new weapons but it was quite short.
Lots of people have requested a mission editor but I think they said it’s too big a job with their current engine. Fingers crossed for the next game.
You also have the ability to replay missions but it is in a piecemeal fashion where each needs to be selected individually. There is no "new game +" style of replayability.
A mission generator/creator is something that we have been asking for but Ubi has no plans for such a thing. NG+ has also been a long time request from this community which would allow players to replay the campaign but with saved characters and all that they had acquired. .....again, no current plans.
There is also a new Ghost Mode that uses permadeath as its main feature. .....not particularly popular depending on who you ask. You literally lose the character and all progress if you die. There was a backlash from this restriction and the fact that they locked other long-time requested features like "one primary", friendly fire and "realistic" reloads in a permadeath mode. There is a strong request to port these other features to the main game as options but we'll have to see. This also helps add some replayability for those who want to experience the game with this self set limitations.
I am still holding out for a random mission generator, because Ubi specifically said a mission editor is not in the cards. It might be a good way to offer a steady flow of prestige points in PVE, so instead of getting EXP, or Tier points, for completing a mission, you earn like 50 prestige points. Otherwise you are capped at 15000 in the man game, but only if you can reach Tier 1.
Yeah, makes me wonder if they really understood what some of us were asking for when they said no. That's why I also prefer to use the term "generator" vs. editor. Using elements that already exist in the game to create missions / scenarios from a list. ....or choose the random option so the game chooses for you. ....or something along those lines.Originally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
Yeah, this is what I really wanted....randomly-generated objectives that just don't end. I don't want to grind to unlock all kinds of goodies, knowing that I'm only going to be able to use them temporarily. This game has so much potential, if they would just cut it loose from the story-mode stuff.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
Yeah you are right about using the term “mission generator”. Something that uses the assets and mechanics that are already in the game.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
Thinking about it the term “mission editor” could suggest something like the level builder in far cry 5 arcade.
They actually mention in the year 2 Q&A question 10 about mission editor

A mission “generator” would add awesome replayability.
A poll for the community’s favorite mission types would be interesting to see.
Yes, to me, an editor would suggest some kind of control over the content, and would likely need to be separate from the main game. FC5's arcade mode is a perfect example of a mission editor But a mission generator on the other hand, would simply e the game using the existing map, existing game mechanics and assets, to create random side missions.
