    How Will You Remember TD1?

There aren't many things free in this world, but one of them is your reputation.
So before the release of TD 2 you must remember that people will consider that game only what you've left behind.
I'll be honest , I've enjoyed alot of things and despised alot to.
    Been here since the beginning
    But
To me, this game is like a spoilt rich kid with the best toys in the world , and they have just been reckless with it.
Poor Servers, exploits, glitches, infiltration of cheats , unbalancing , fixes which haven't been fixed , ( I'm sure I've missed other things ) just look at some of the threads posted on this forum.
Don't let the TD2 be a game of PPP ( Piss Poor Planning )
The current game still has 7 months left
You Are At The Point of No Return for TD2
    DEVS, EMPLOY MORE PEOPLE.
To fix current game, have them endless Test TD2 for glitches, exploits, loopholes , have better Servers, integrate an Anti Cheat.
    The ball in your court.
    No more excuses
Now Is The Time To Act.

I'll tell you how I'll remember it:

I am an old-time gamer. I was in my late 20s when the original Wolfenstein 3D and Doom were released on PC (early 90s?) Through the years I had done my share of LAN parties (Quake anybody?) as well as plenty of online PvP games that really caught my fancy (the original Battlefield games - 1942, Vietnam, etc. were huge). I was never much into RPG games, though did a few of those. As I got older though I generally settled into more story-oriented FPS games that seemed less taxing on my aging reflexes as well as less having to deal with toxic punks online (the Bioshock series comes to mind as memorable). Oh, I also owned Atari 2600, the original NES, Genesis, Super NES, Xbox, etc. through the decades.

I was so "out of touch" with this genre that admittedly I had never even heard of this game and knew nothing about it. It just turns out that I was building a new rig in March of 2016 and the Nvidia card I purchased came with a download code for a free copy of "Tom Clancy's The Division." I had no idea what it was or what it was about, but how could I say no to "free"? Besides, the pics looked great and I wanted something to showcase the power of my new rig.

Well, fast forward 2.5 years and although I only play a little at a time, I am STILL playing this game. In the past I'd tire of PvP-ing in whatever title usually after a half year or so, or in the story-oriented FPS game I was playing at the time I'd finish the storyline then uninstall and never play again. In all those years I don't think I've ever put as much time into any single title (PC, console or even back to arcade days) as I have on this one.

Why? Sure, it has it's issues - plenty of them, in fact. But the almost never-ending variety built into this single game (storyline, UG missions, Daily Missions, GEs, PvP-ing in the DZ, etc.) along with the character-building mechanics has held my attention like no other game I've ever played before.

Is it the best game ever? I don't think so, but I will always recall it as the one that kept my attention and interest longer than any other title ever - at least up to this point.

I will remember The Division similar to how I remember the Titanic. People paid for an opportunity to be part of what could have been a historic in video games. Less then a month after launch, it sank, killing off it's customer base. Then in turn blaming the players for it's failure. Never once accepting any responsibility for the way things turned out. Now many survived and finished the journey, constantly being reminded of how great things could have been, but always falling short of the full journey.

Yes, I still play and enjoy the game, but it could have been so much more. It could have been what they advertised.

Who knows, years from now it could make a fine movie worth watching when we are all dead.

Yes, Burger, I agree. It is one of the best games, in my opinion. I am an old player too. (I remember Bioshock, played them as well), but TD is the first "shooter" game which I truly enjoy. Normally, I prefer games such as Assassin's Creeed, Uncharted or Resident Evil etc, yet this game is not a mere shooter. As you said, it offers many different modes, character building etc and is thus very interesting. However, the cheating, exploiting, use of Chronus Max scripts as well as the many bugs and glitches spoil the game, particularly in PVP. I will buy TD2 most probably, but I very much hope, the devs listened to the suggestions and complaints of the players so that those things will not ocurr next time.

An ambitious game that faltered no matter how much it got right.

TD2 should be flawless considering everything they learned from the bugs and mistakes of the first game. Only thing players should complain about in the next game is something they aren't good at doing. Not bug after bug, lag, etc. All of that SHOULD be fixed.

Ill remember it as one of if not the best game i ever played. Ill also remember the lack of honest communication from the makers. ill Remember how the team has constantly downgraded the servers. How every event was plagued by the same exact mistakes with those servers. How they come on and say TD2 will be much more polished and we have learned from our mistakes yet have done nothing to prove that in the current game and if anything have pushed the other way leaving one to only believe if its the same people working on TD2, where should my hope come from that anything will be any different? Ill remember how a few streamers dictated how the game was played when the majority constantly fought against it. How they refused to even talk about cheating 99% of the time and never really in any context whatsoever. SO while ive spent more time than any other game by far, had alot of fun doing it most times, im not sure at this point how ill remember it to be honest as coming this far into it, the game should be playing flawlessly yet i cant even make myself login, not because im bored with it but because of mainly the servers just absolutely sucking to the point of no end.

Remember it ? it is still here still playing it, And would be upset if it just stops ...But it is the best game i have played, many hours hunting gear to be nerfed.. And in the most having fun..
But will not miss underground or resistance or incursions or the legendary bolt ons .. Underground is a repetitive bore , resistance is a boring pain and incursions and legendary takes the game away from solo players ...While many say they do them solo , when you watch the vids they use hacks and glitches but some can do it...
The DZ kept me playing more than anything, I still love to farm DZ ..Would love to play more survival but massive messed it up as usual and it takes ages to get a game.. Skirmish and Last Stand was a great idea gone bad, and made worse when they messed with the movement and heal then the servers... Does anyone really think they learned anything from this game ???..
I have no idea what TD2 will be like as i have not followed it, and will wait and see what happens at launch will it have the DZ ?.. I hope they do not change to many things that made the division the game it is, With all the bugs an all ..

Absolutely correct, Hyper. UG is always the same as well as the incursions or Resistance. Skirmish and LS could be more fun without the shownoobers, cheaters and Cronus users. DZ and Survival are my favourites too, but, as you said, the matchmaking is horrible. 15 mins of waiting for an empty server. This DLC is dead.

oh man, the chills and hype I had from that original E3 trailer... we were in store for a hell of a game.

    Then.....

Been here like most since day 1, it has thus been a very long journey. A very tumultuous one at that

As a very flawed but new and refreshing game. Then again I never played multiplayer MMO's or RPG's before this so it was extra refreshing from me.

Though I do hope TD2 also has much harder content for solo players, something similar to 1.3 UG. Not by buffing NPC health, but similar difficulty. I miss that challenge, but unlike 1.3 it should not be a requirement to get the gear, just something "extra" with more rewards in terms of quantity.

The biggest issue of TD1 was not really how the game is, it's how much potential it holds. The game feels like a platform that holds the potential for something that is 10 times as awesome.
