Warrior's Den August 9th
We have an info post
Hello Gang,
Please tune in to the Warrior's Den tomorrow at Noon EDT on twitch.tv/forhonorgame to get updates on what we're doing to address issues in Ranked Mode, as well as some other important updates on the feedback we've heard from you since Season 7's launch last week.
We'll also show you the next month's Roadmap, which will reveal the date of our next Seasonal Event, and we'll have a stacked deck on the couch with Damien, Roman, and Stefan to answer your questions from the chat.
The maintenance will happen at NOON tomorrow, coinciding with the show.

Saw the time voodoo I did \m/<(-.-)>\m/
So they had a patch, there were errors, there were things in the patch not in then notes, they will hit these.
Warden does not have a soft feint off his heavy finishers.
Valkyrie sweep timing is still 600ms not 500ms
Both of these were part of their RIT tests and didn't get corrected in note form.
They have pinpointed the reason to an issue that crashes when effects are equipped to executions, fix in a future patch.
Low FPS in mnions apparently particularly a thing in minions.
There is an inactivity bug where people were being kicked for playing normally, already fixed.
Warden bug where shoulder bash drains a tonne of stamina if he whiffs, next patch.
Half of the weapons they showed for season 7 were actually for season eight, WHOOPS, on the other hand that also means there were weapons they didn't show us.
Today's maintenance there will be a bunch of ranked changes, which apprently more people than ever have been playing.
People who quit a game, players were exploiting ways of quitting without triggering the no quit penalty to be ranked higher than they should, this is going away in ranked, any way the game session ends there will be a penalty, disconnects, mum unplugging the console, breakers flipping, you don't complete the match you get a rank penalty. This is a strict penalty, yes, there might be false positives, but this is ranked. People will receive a 40% rank penalty and a thirty minute quit penalty (normally an hour but given they are being stricter). If it isn't enough there will be a harsher penalty if needed.
The quit penalty in casual play is something they want to reintroduce, there is some confusion over whether it is this week or this week. (Update they confirmed this will be next week)
People struggle to find other players in ranked dominion for ranked qualifying matches so they went with a static value based on. This is the same for duel but there is a couple side effects here, firstly that this value is static meaning if you're against players too easy or hard that is your whole first 20 matches and this was based on previous season ranked or non ranked duel. The other side effect was that people gaming the system decided to go in with a smurf account to get top rank. From now on the value will change after every match.
Division promotion and demotion, this is a bonus that stops players flipflopping between divisions, for some reason it reset from 10% to an earlier value of 25%, they are bringing it down now to 5%.
All of this is good but how are they going to deal with players who used quit penalty exploits? They have looked through the data and the worst offenders will get their rank reset. They have not penalised players who did it a little as there is no way to be sure there were no disconnects but certainly the anomalies where this has spiked, they are dealing with that.
People who smurfed, this is harder because people have genuinely switched platforms, but here the decay system will play its role, as well as the fact when they face people truly at that rank they are going to take big hits over time.
This weekend there will be a ranked duel tournament event. Originally they had planned to simply replace ranked duels because they don't want to split the ranked community, but because of all the things happening now, this weekend it will be there as well as ranked duel. They would love to get feedback on this in terms of matchmaking time and if people want both at the same time when the tournament is active.
They are working on players not getting rewards when their opponent quits and they are looking at latency thresholds. They don't' want it to be too low especially with new stricter penalties but obviously they can't let this be unchecked.
There were some unintended changes in the patch.
Some moves have been changed to only pause stamina regain when out of stamina instead of draining it, the thing right now is it isn't the full implementation, so they ar erolling this back for now until everything is ready to go in together. Some things went live when others weren't yet ready. This will happen on tuesday in a live update.
Shugoki has become meme level on reddit since his bugfix to demon's embrace making it no longer activate on revenge, this was the only attack that flat out ignored hyperarmour state in revenge. This was an active bug, it needs fixing and at one point will be permanent, but right now he is in a particular state in need of buffs and certain changes to the playstyle so this will be rolled back for now, also Tuesday.
Valklyrie had a whole bunch of changes, they are looking at do they revert any of it or give her some things back they took, for the moment they are looking at feedback and what they are seeing in the data before making any changes.
There will be a state of balance for season 6 when they have compiled all the numbers.
They wanted to highlight that they do not hide things in patches, sometimes they forget something or something gets pulled in with something else and the note doesn't and they sometimes have side effects of fixes.
Known things that snuck into this patch
They fixed a berserker animation but this impacted on his ability to hide his attack, they want to work on that.
All heroes get to interrupt stance change with dodge. There is a patch note for this...it was meant for the next patch. This is intended just early.
Conqureror had a whiff after a throw that was almost guaranteed damage, Conqueror has a couple things like an unintended sideeffect of a bug fix causing a long allblock startup, conq throw punish whiff, shiugoki damage reduction after throw, these are things being investigated.
Shugoki passive armour not regenerating out of stamina, they looked through the code, apparently this has been there from launch, they are investigating this though.
Raider zone has a targetting issue that is currently a work in progress on fixing.
Monthly roadmap
This weekend ranked duel order.
Next week events which they will go into next Den.
(Not on the map) Games with gold, free for a month for xbox.
They went into perks, they have seen good discussions from the community. As a whole they think the feedback is positive but there are still questions over what they lose or what will be changed. All items, visuals, gear upgrades will be kept. People have given feedback that they might need the change look option more often because of certain perks, they will be looking at changing the prices, globally they are looking at decreasing the cost 20-30%. They also plan to give crates when the system changes so people have freebies to experiment with.
Content of the week three battle outfits - Triumphant Splendour, Dauntless Brigade and Gambler's Fallacy.
French jokes with Damien...if people really want these groaners I will timestamp them >.> I am sure they were funny in French.
Community corner/Q&A
Are there plans to move more colour swatches to colour or defender? Yes, where it makes sense. Separated colours is not a thing that is going away.
When will we get more armours and materials? Not this season, they leaked something last week, do with that as you will. Materials is a tricky subject, they have ideas but it is not high priority currently. Right now they are playing with introducing weapons that take colour swatches
Why is it that Valk cannot block when dodging? And will this change, she is the only none assassin to do this. She has her deflect, so it is a matter of not double stacking this.
Why was so much taken away from Valk in her rework? They are looking at where she lands in the win/loss, one thing they do say ios that she had very strong ganking tools, the allblock during bash phase of shield rush and the guaranteed sweep off guardbreak which will come off more often externally and they felt that the capability to have someone vulnerable to heavies all around in this nature was something they wanted to deal with.
Why aren't they using P2P when servers are in maintenance? When servers are in maintenance they can't connect to anything in the game, P2P wouldn't fix this.
How does the team feel about the warden rework so far? They like it, seems to be performing well in duels, always nice to feel do we need to nerf it a little rather than should we buff it. They were also asked does he rely too much on the shoulderbash? He has a pretty simple kit by design as an introductory character, they added the forward dodge heavy but they don't want to overdo the kit.
Are there plans to make the executions more brutal? They want to find the right balance, they do have brutal ones but it is not something that appeals to every player.
Can PK get her dodge recovery back? Nope, back and side dodge recovery are staying standard across all, they want to know everyone or nobody can punish a move.
Are they aware the current system for target switching is not good, are there any plans for it? This has been something they have been looking at since early development, they want to improve it, they a working onre figuring out how.
Are there any plans for streamlining the experience when playing with friends? They are investigating this, they are open to improvement, they had a first implementation on that permanently but it did not work well, it fell down the priority list but they are still working on it.
Why the huge increase in tracking in bash when charged max? Maximum shoulder bash does move forward better, peopel could walk away from this, hidden stance without worrying about timing, it was very easy to beat. Yes it works when people walk or dodge back, that is the point.
Someone thinks they should do meme reviews from reddit...please no.
And that is a wrap, next week, seasonal event, powerpoint, big stream.
