I have mocked up a possible UI tweak- replacing the mini pause/ music menu with a mobile phone. I took inspiration from watch dogs 2 implementation in terms of design. The reason why I chose a phone is because I think it would be easier to use/ and you could streamline items to it, instead of separate menus and so on, such as the icon level being on the phone rather at the bottom of the screen always when driving. I also added in real-time data/ battery bars which can be effected in game- such as driving under a tunnel will lower signal/ make the in game radio not as clear. I also added a self radio for player's own music, by reading mp3s off the console/ pc. I also added a recommended events app, which could be like forza's Anna, giving the player choices on races that could fit a criteria- most money, xp and so on. The game options menu has also been added. Other apps that i think could be added/ would really help could include a mobile garage like tc1, to make it easier/ more convenient to switch vehicles. I even think a widget system with stats could work well too!
