Hi - I'm posting out of desperation after trying a few times in the past month to use the editor, and after searching the forum for people with similar issues -- but to no avail. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
For some reason, the map editor is virtually unusable for me while on a PC. I have no easy way to navigate a map while editing it except the bare controls of up, down, left, and right (the usual W, S, A, and D respectively). I know other controls, not to mention an entire interface, ought to be there because I've seen them while other people were using the map editor (example: see this screenshot I got from YouTube user Sam Plays -- NONE of the controls at the bottom left corner nor is the entire interface available for me on a PC using a PS4 controller.) I cannot use the PS4 controller at all except while actually playing the map. Zoom in and zoom out clearly will work on the computer touchpad using two fingers but that is unwieldy and impractical to use. I have to either 1.) manually select an object, then click "show object in scene" and navigate to that location; or 2.) play the map, travel in character to a certain part of the map, then click "go back to map editor" to show up in the area I want to edit. Other things like changing the terrain--adding erosion, ramps, or holes--are also impossible features to use and don't work at all on simple objects like floors. Was the map editor simply made for use on a console rather than on a PC? These look like glaring oversights on the part of the developers; am I just very stupid and am missing something entirely that would allow me to turn these controls and the interface on? Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I mean, I don't have a physical mouse. But like I said, the touchpad doesn't work at all except to zoom in and out using two fingers--but the sensitivity is wild making it unusable for navigation. There is also no way to rotate the map the way users on a console can. You can move up down left and right, but the cursor velocity is abysmally slow making it ineffective for navigation.
Nope, you need a (right)mousebutton in combination with cursor movement to do things in the editor. The editor uses rightmouse to pan around, middle mouse to move the camera vertically, and left mouse button to select objects. A pure touchpad doesn't have the ability to keep right-click held down while moving around the touchpad with your fingers. Perhaps you should see if your touchpad driver or Windows settings has some kind of setting that'll allow this "advanced" control feature.
But seriously, get a physical mouse with 3 buttons and a scroll wheel. With that, the PC editor is superior to the console editor.
It's annoying when companies refuse to give users the options they want. I know the mouse is a superior method under most circumstances, but if they know how to offer a gamepad interface (which they do) why not offer it to PC users as well? Why shouldn't you be able to use your gamepad if you're sitting on your couch with a PC hooked up to your big TV if that's what you want to do?
It was one of the main reasons I stopped playing Minecraft on my PC and went over to the PS4 to do it because I don't like playing games with a keyboard and mouse, and I don't care in the least how many times folks tell me it's superior, big deal it's not what I personally want to do.
