Grinding for an event coming up empty

Don't know about anyone else. Myself. I find it somewhat unsatisfying to be grinding for an hour plus and not really gain anything towards the event collections. I'm not talking about all those times that you're paired against someone that is level 20 with a deck full of level 6 cards while you're only level 12 with a deck of level 3 and 4 cards. What I'm talking about is all those times that you do get some wins. Possibly even several wins in a row. You get to the lockers only to pick ones with items that you really could care less about, and don't have the slightest bit to do with the event. So you grind more. Eventually you hit the locker limit with barely a scratch in the event requirements.
Now I'm not asking that every locker have 10% of the event items. Honestly I really don't want to see that. It would completely ruin things. I believe a three day event should take a casual gamer roughly three days to complete. My definition of casual gaming is not playing for four plus hours a day. Especially on a phone.
I do enjoy the PvP aspect of the game. Even though the game suffers from some issues that hopefully the programming team is working hard on fixing. Part of why I feel that it's enjoyable is the fact that I can get into a PvP match. Either get my butt kicked, or hopefully kick some butt and repeat for another four or five more times. Grab the PvP card pack. Than go about my day. When it comes to an event I don't have an issue with increasing the time I spend playing the game. As that is one of the main reasons they put the events out. To draw people into the game for extended periods of time. Once the requirements start consuming huge portions of my weekend. Things become less appealing.
As a side note. One other thing that disappoints me some. Cards that are only given during events. Okay, okay, cool down. It's not what you think. I like the fact that there are cards that you can only get during events. I think they should of left some of the event only cards as, "event only cards", instead of turning them out into the wild. Where I'm going with this is that you can get lucky and "randomly" get several of these event only cards in one event. Or, you can have crap luck such as myself and play through several events without even getting a single event only card. Looking at you ManBearPig event. Still haven't found a single one of those blasted cards during the events. It's not like they couldn't scale the rewards based on those that have completed the events in the past and not received an event only card, compared to those that have. Just the idea of having another 10% of 10% of a chance to get an event card during an event. Heck make the event reward handicap stack for each unrewarded event. That in itself might be the incentive enough for others to try and complete an event and finally collect that missing card. I know it would for myself. Than when you collect one of the event cards your handicap goes back to baseline/zero.
I'm not looking for a free handout, just a little help, that also might motivate people during events.
